I hate to tell you this but you could build a much better comp yourself for the same price. I still don't understand why people buy from them. I guess it's just the convience thing, but i mean any idiot can build a computer.
Anyways it's nice, but if you decide to build it yourself pm and I will try to help ya out.
Thats an imediate response from the DIY crowd, even before they look at the price..lol
Especially when they see Alienware.

For $2700 you should be able to build that same system yourself with a 24" dell LCD. Just make sure you drop that CPU to the 6600 and put an enormous HSF on it so you OC the snot out of it without trouble.
If you're afraid to build it yourself, I recommend you go over to monarchcomputer and try pricing it out... I'd bet it will save you $500 easy.
Is that why they have virtually stopped making them?
Response times are so over rated. The human eye blinks are 100-150 ms. Are you going to haggle over 12-4 ms. CRT suck IHO.
Maximum PC's best of the best diplays http://www.maximumpc.com/reviews/displays/ . Not many Crt's there.
I love my monitor..lol

Extras are cool too, memcard readers, usb ports in the side.

common complaints about tft's when gaming is that they don't respond quickly enough, the picture can tear when large objects move quickly across the screen. Colours look more realistic on CRT's while on TFT's they look kinda comicy.Kmarion wrote:

In contrast the performance of TFT's can vary dramatically, which is due to the fact that some fast response models use 6-bit panels rather then 8 bit panels. some high quality TFT's also use 10-bit gamma correction to smooth out colour gradients.
Colours on a CRT are produced by phosphors that are excited by an electron beam, which can display wider range of colours, an example of this would include Quake4.

I want 50% off, cheez.
No, my parents aren't buying this for me. This is ALL coming out of my own pocket And I'm only 20! So mwahahhaha.
I don't get that stuff and I play every major game out there. The colors are much more "vibrant" on my lcd also.--->[Your]Phobia<--- wrote:

I'm running a 19" AOC monitor and its great. It kinda stopped working for a while, so I borrowed my mates Sony LCD it was 21" if im correct. Now when I played BF2, UT2K4, Project IGI2 etc etc it sucked, I did not liek the colours/picture one little bit. I am soo happy I dont own a LCD/TFT
Good boy! (no sarcasm) I bought my first computer for myself at 18 and it was just over $1000. Wiped out my bank, but man was it worth it... 486/33 with a big 4 mb of ram 200mb hard drive and a 14" monitor. I had to add a sound card a few months later, then upgraded it to 8mb.... upgrade after upgrade...BlackPlague wrote:

You've put together a nice system. I still think you should drop the CPU down to a 6600, put a good solid HSF on it and it should OC just as high as that 6700 will. I'd DITCH the MCE and get XP pro, but then I've always hated the "for the public" OSs since Microshaft hosed so many people with Mellennium Edition. The last change is I also recommend you either upgrade to a 19" LCD or drop it all together and buy yourself a 19" or bigger.
nice realy nice.......BUT MINE IS BETTER lolBlackPlague wrote:

I just dont have time, patience or desire to work threw putting everything together and setting it up. Some ppl like it I don't . Just different personalities. I change hardware here in there but I just don't like to build from scratch.

i was not trying to diss your choice. I just hate to see people spend that amount of money on a pc(i will admit though the 50% helps).
What bothers me about alien ware is that some people don't realize that their are other options for custom hi end pcs. Companys like overdrive pc, falcon northwest, voodoo all make really awesome machines for people who do not want to diy it. Compared to what alienware offers they seems to be superior in terms of qaulity and performance. Of course most of these company, with the exception of maybe voodoo, do not have the brand recognition.
Anyways just my opinion. Enjoy the new pc.

People, stop +1'ing me and asking if I can give you the 50% discount. So here's my answer.
NO! This will only work ONCE and ONCE only.

It's a scam !! Im calling the Alienware police right now!!
