i have been having this problem since i installed patch 1.4 beta version 2. When i click on the game the normal box comes up with that bf2 thing and then the screen goes black, the game is then supposed to start but it just goes back to the desktop. If anybody has any ideas about what could be wrong could they please post here, or if anybody is having the same problem could they tell me please.

I actually just started having that same problem, but I have the 1.3 patch. It shows the BF2 box, looks like its loading, then back to desktop and that's it. I also uninstalled and reinstalled and updated patch and still doing it.

I fixed mine. I had to do a system restore to a time where the game was working, it then showed some kind of error with shader or something like that. I then uninstalled, reinstalled and updated to 1.3 patch and it works now. Hope this helps ya...
