Whats happens after 2142? I doubt EA/dice will make battlefield 3. What do you guy think will be EA's replacement after all this? I was hoping for a Civil War of Cavemen version.

What the hell are they gonna do throw rocks at each other? Bang each other on the head? Or maybe someone will eat a freaking stink beetle then have a serious fart attack that could knock out most of the other primitive cavemen. Dude we could have Battlefield: When Jesus walked the earth, now that would be an interesting game I think.

No. BF 1942 was BF1, and since BF vietnam was using the 42 engine, it was not seen as more than being like an expansion, not a new BF game per se. Then you got BF2, named so because it was a new engine (otherwise you're implying that the company mis-named its own game). As 2142 is just using the BF2 engine, it is in the same leagure as vietnam - not BF3 because its not a new battlefield engine. So they will make a new Battlefield game after 2142 on a new engine (I'm presuming they will because the franchise is so popular, they wouldn't kill their own cash cow), and that will be BF3.manitobapaintballa wrote:

I reckon you might not be too far off the mark, at least in terms of 'remaking' rather than 42 specifically. They won't go pre-WW2 because the combat wouldn't be fast enough to have the BF feel to it, and as they have done recent-history, faux-present/near future, and future, I reckon the next step would be to redo one of the those but with an engine that was so kick arse it would be a whole new experience. For example, mayne by the time BF3 is made, there will be harware around that could handle maps the size of BF2 but with fully destructable environments, Source-engine levels of detail & physics, etc.DavidianCox wrote:

After 2142 its 2342. The guns shoot themselves, the cars jihad by themselves. All you have to do is just sit there and it gives you points. Also, knifes are replaced with fists to punch the enemy and pistols are replaced with a type of lightsaber/pwnzord weapon.

Glad to see that I am not the only one who thinks that. I would still play it but BF2 has more things to offer (graphics, ranking, unlock, squads etc...). If they put the customization, the Titan mode and everything that BF2 & 2142 has to offer into a 1942 remake, I would say that they would have a perfect game there.DavidianCox wrote:

I hope they make Battlefield 3. It should be like Battlefield 2 but VERY realistic. None of that bunny hopping nonsense of coarse, but the jets and such are very realistic, like you can't pull up while upside down for example. If you did that your eyes would be sucked out of their sockets.

I think they will just do BF3 or whatever they call it, Just like BF2 but much updated new weapons new maps that sort of thing! I think 2142 is gonna be a one-off
who knows, there really isn't much more they could do beyond 2142 time-wise, besides space combat, which might not provide enoguh material for an entirely new game. They might go back in time like some people say- but personally I'd like them to redo BF1942 with the new graphics, gameplay features, weapon improvements, etc.

I think what would be cool is a fake war in oh say the 1960's or 70's or even 80's. USA vs. USSR. USSR becomes even stronger due to a new invention or the discovery of a mass natural resource supply in Russia. The Soviets decide to finaly face their number one enemy in combat and finaly gain global influence that the USA has arrogantly had for years. Theatres of war my include, the former Soviet Union (Europe/Eurasia), Cuba, Florida, Alaska, China, etc. It has a TON of potential. I would love to see it happen.
