i thought i found how to fix it...

but what i did to mess it up was use the shaders_client.zip from the sf xpack and replaced the shaders_client.zip file.

this caused the infamous "you can't play because your have to revert to the original version).   i reversed mysteps (for i did not back up the original shaders file like a nub) and searched for a replacement on the net...i found one and attempted to fix,....THAT'S WHEN THIS BLACK STUFF APPEARED.

then asked someone on bf2s.com to give me theirs.

carrin gave me his, but the black is still there.

HELP!  CAN ANYBODY HELP THIS NUB!!!?

What will clearing or deleting the client archives.con do?

I would do some stress tests on your card and see if BF2 is the only thing that is causing that. Could be many things the worse thing your card could be bad. Use 3dmark and then see what that produces in those tests.

Have you tried deleting the contents of My Documents\Battlefield 2\cache so that it forces it to re-optimise shaders and stuff next time you join a game?
