You're loading and veryfing the map extremely faster then other players. When you finish the verify things, spawn to the nearest vehicle you want to play. If its a jet.. apc, transport, armor.. ITS YOURS.
if you want to know how "fast" your cpu is, the first second you have the abbility to open the playes tab watch the darken skulls, and kits. The more skulls you see, the faster your loading the map.

that's speaking from a 4 GB,  4GHz horse power

Ive noticed several fellas with fast cpu as well, spawning, like 10 seconds before all of the rest. They sometimes spawn to far out/empty initial spawn points insted of spawning direct to the vehicle they want to play.

Dunno, thats a tip.. some will take it, and some wont.

couple nights ago i spawned before everyone on Kubra Dam as USMC.  i grabbed the f18 and flew straight for the MEC airfield and took that flag before any resistance spawned.  ouch.

i personally prefer the servers with 60+ second round start times.  that gives everyone equal opportunity to finish loading and spawn at the same time, rather than favoring those with faster machines.  *shrugs*

On every server I am often the first person in unless my clanmate is playing (his company bought him a 3500 computer)

I usually take that time to start making my way to the least often spawned base on the map the fastest and least visible way possible... by the time half the team has got in I've almost neutralized Market or Suburb in Karkand.

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
2GB Ram
2x 200gb SATA Raid 0 (I think this helps the most)

Speaking from a 2.02GHZ, 2GB Ram.... I am usually one of the first to spawn into a 'new' map.... and I often check the players tab just to have a little looksee. So you don't exactly need a 'superfast' beast of a pc

Clearing out the junk, tweaking for unused background tasks, making sure there's no 'clog factor' when it comes to spyware and the odd defrag from time to time will ensure enough of a headstart ... and yes, it's great to be one of the first to a vehicle and to have captured a flag before most have gone through all the 'gltchy' stuff

Its all about the RAM...With 1GB, it look several minutes to get past the verifying client data portion, I added another gig and it literally only takes seconds now.

that is a true statement...the difference between 1gig and 2gig of ram is phenominal on load times

I used to spawn like that on BF2.
Special Forces is a whole other story .

I have a P4 2.8 Prescott Edition and 1GB of PC3200 RAM... and I'm almost always one of the first 3 or 4 people to spawn.  I guarantee there are a lot of people out there with faster machines than mine.

I've got an AMD 3500+ on a Asus SLI Deluxe MB...running dual SLI Vid Cards..with 2 gigs of OCZ Enhanced Latency Platinum Series memory..all on a slight overclock. On Extreme Cable Connection 6Mbps.
I have yet to see anyone load anywhere near my load time.
I have accidentlly spawned on the bottom of the air craft carrier, ran all the way to the top and got in a jet as the rest loaded.
I always say to my friends who I play BF2 with ..what is verifiying client data...I only see that as a blink..approx 3 seconds..and I am not exaggerating at all.

And yes..the biggest improvement for load times..was when I spent another $274 for my second gig.

often, on Mashtuur, I'm waiting inside the Black Hawk for about 15-20 seconds for all the rest to appear. I can choose what I want to be.. lol a pilot, a gunner, or engineer.

muuaahhhh

and yes, kn0ckahh is 100% correct. It has *nothing* to do with the GPU. it's pure CPU time and a bit of hd spin.

You should also note that just because players are listed as dead in the tab menu doesn't mean they haven't loaded the map, they just haven't spawned. Alot of ppl will walk away between maps to take a piss, grab a snack, whatever..

I agree with JeeSqwat. Memory will have the biggest impact on your load times. The CPU is second, and hard drive third.

I personally have 2GB of OCZ EL Platinums (2-3-2-5 at DDR400) with a Athlon 2500+ Barton OC'd to 2000MHz. After upping my memory from 1GB to 2GB, the extra seconds shaved off my load times places me in the first 2-3 loaded for any given map.

I actually break the load times into 2 stages: loading (progress bar) and verifying. From what I've heard, verifying involves some sort of security check on the data loaded into memory for a given map, probably an anti-cheat measure. This is why memory size is crucial, because low memory means you will need to page stuff in and out of memory (this is basically loading/unloading), slowing things down a bit. The CPU speed matters most after that, as it performs the checks on the memory contents.

I also tested the effects of switching to a Raptor hard drive. I hypothesized that it would affect only my loading stage (reading from hard disk), and not my verify times. I tested this and concluded that this is true.

If you want to cut load times, get the 2GB. After that, up your CPU speeds. Save the Raptors for when you have everything else upgraded.

Well said four science. Like I said..I had my exact system with 1gig..and my friend with a much slower CPU but with 2 gigs was well ahead loading before me..I was stuck on verifying client data. It drove me nuts..that I had this power house computer...and he had a moderate gaming pc and was playing that game shooting people while I was verifiying client data. So i stuck another gig in and it was night and day. The dude who said its all about CPU speed don't know SQWAT.......

I'm running a 3gig machine with 2 gigs of DDR2 and its still dog verifying...30 seconds or more

Any ideas??

You probably have dozens of background tasks which eat up resources. Your RAM will hold the data to be verified, while the CPU verifies it. If your RAM is being used up by spyware and other crap (like Norton), it will have to use the swap file on your HD, while slows down verification. That same crap that uses up RAM will also use up CPU cycles, which further slows down the verification.

Run msconfig and remove everything you don't need from startup; don't worry, you can't hurt anything because the startup tab only lists nonessential programs, but you can potentially fuck up things like your sound or macros.

Also do Ctrl Alt Del to bring up the task manager. Again, you can't fuck up really bad here, because you can't end tasks that are needed (like System Idle Process). You could probably end explorer.exe (which takes up a fair bit of resources) and still play BF2. It can be restarted via the run program dialog in the task manager.

Its not the chip its mostly your drive speeds. Mem and Chip mean nothing with a 5200 ide slowing things up.

Usually I am the first to "enter" a new map in every server, if I'm not first, there are not more than 2 players with faster load times.

I got a tip.

If you got the fast ram be a squad leader so the team/squad can spawn at you on the first flag as you cap it, points all round. (songhau for eg)

Or if it your on Clean Sweep, grab the usa jet fly n bail out over mec airfield (again as squad leader)

I'm running a P4 2.2 Northwood with 1.5GB of RDRAM (RAMBUS) and I find that it verify's client data a lot fast conecting to a Linux server (I think either Unix or Linux but not too sure) than a standard or 64bit server. I also have disabled file paging (virtual memory)

I know it has nowt to do with bandwidth as I'm on an 8Mb connection.

Its official, my PC is a shed

i got a
amd fx53
2gb corsair dual ram
and a 78000gtx oc

havent seen anyone load faster then me yet. in fact my machine is the reason i have some wins on the iron gator map. cause when that map loads im the 1st one in and i usually can cap the engine room flag before anyone on the navy seals side can get there. so my team spawns there and we jus rape the carrier from the inside out lol.
