Is it my imagination or is SF so much harder than BF2. Me and two friends were on last night and I nearly had a breakdown. Apart from a demon sniper shot to take a guy down in a boat I was cannon fodder for everyone. I so can't handle the night time maps either. I'm thinkink about giving it all up, digging out my old Amiga and playing Sensible Soccer again to restore some self esteem.

- How hard is SF?
The night maps do suck. However, I've really enjoyed playing the daytime maps - particularly Surge, Warlord and Ghost Town.
Mayve you just need more practice on the new maps/weapons?

the night maps dont suck they are just different and you need time to get used to them.
all the BF2 maps and some of the SF's maps are day time. this makes it easy to quickly get to grips with the layout .
the first few days playing night maps i was a headless chicken. i didnt have a clue where i was, where the spawns were or where the opposition was.
but now as i have got used to the layouts i feel more confident and am enjoying this different style of gameplay.
hopefully you will feel the same about them in time.

It just takes time to get used to, well not really, my first time to play I was MEC on WArlord and with my AK 101 i wooped all the SAS assses with their fancy scoped rifles, I got like 60 pts my first time playing, ITs just based on you day and have to remember this game is a game of chance, you turn one way in an alley and you see your opponent you shoot him, what if you turned the other way, you would have gotten shot, so take it easy and keep playing, Go SPETnaz
I think it is harder, but you just have to work harder as a team. Lonewolfing tends to get you killed far quicker in SF, or will do until you've learnt the maps as well as the current BF maps.
I've found the night maps to be impossible to play, it's just so laggy for me and I have no idea why. It gets worse when I turn my night vision goggles on, so I'm a sitting duck really.
The day maps are good, but still with this new patch I'm experiancing lots of lag issues and sometimes the screen will freeze for 5 seconds, for me to come back dead. Happened a lot in core BF" last night as well.

xxiv and zhushma thanks guy for the support! Like Dirtyepics, I found my first time in SF chaotic and depressing.
SF might be little harder, but most importantly, you have to get used to it. Learn the maps etc.

Aye, it's not harder as much as it is a different playstyle that you just need to get used to. In SF you need to be much more aware of your surroundings and oftentimes the only breather you get is between spawns. Just as often though it's just blind luck as to whether the enemy is facing towards you or away from you when you turn the corner.
It's such a blast though, especially when I'm spawning time after time as Assault on Iron Gator in the mess hall and charging upstairs to try and take the hangar bay. No matter which door I choose to go through somebody is waiting for me. It's like a rock/paper/scissors game. Eventually I learn to pull out the FBs and win

as far as the night maps go. try adjusting the contrast on your monitor. you'll have to play with it a little bit, but once you have it right, you dont even need the NV goggles.
I got gold the first time i played a SF map - medic whoring, and having no idea where i was going. I think the medic kit is very important on night maps. Quite often you will be fired at and have no idea where its coming from. If your carrying a medic bag you can run and jump behind a wall or something and stay alive.
..Its definitely harder though. Your SPM will more than likely fall. The verifying client data is extreme (for me anyway). I often come into the round when people have scores of 20 or 30, then i have to wait 2 minutes before spawning so the initial lag can cool down.
Oh and I really hate it when i get noob launched from behind on a night map, its just so pathetic.

SF isnt all that hard, even with NV you dont always get seen. Stay in teh darkest shadows around, i just hide let the enemy pass then shoot em. it works
Ive had no problems other than walking over cliffs and not even knowing they are there, on a night time map. Otherwise, Ive done great on all SF maps.
