I never owned 1942, but I did play it enough at lans with friends, Ive got veitnam here somewhere but never play that anymore (1942 was so much better). So now its BF2 or go to a lan to play 1942 (which i cant be bothered doing, and it wouldnt be online).

bf42 also 'loads up' in a few seconds these days too which is always a good thing   It's got the gameplay which is what counts...  BF2 looks prettier..  but when you're looking down the barrel at someone about to die the pretty stuff doesn't matter

Did have until one day i was uninstalling it the bloody disc shattered inside the disc tray i miss that game.

Both my discs died eventually..  I 'aquired' a 'softer' format of tha game and play with that now..  anyway.. I paid my dollar..  I can show EA the busted discs and serial if needs be

I quite like not dieing every time I get out of a vehicle in bf42

I still have BF1942 along with both expansion packs...I play it once in a while.  I love flying those planes.

You can play old Playstation games on the PS2... 
You should be able to run bf42 maps in BF2.. 
The BF2 El Alamein conversion was....  shit...?   I thought so anyway.

I play DCF/DCFX, BattleGroup, and BF1918 occasionally.  Haven't played online for a long time though.
