Im sure this topic has been discussed often. but being new to this site maybe we can discuss it one more time . Im in the market for a new video card and would like some opions on the matter. Im willing to pay around $300 what would be the best card to go with?  Looking to enhance my BF2, BF2SF graphics want to be able to run on higest settings the game has to offer.  Please give me some advice, if your tired of answering this question just ignor it. Thanks

Also, I will be using a AGP pro slot on my MotherBoard.

If you want graphics, get the x850XT, works like a charm! Make sure you get one that has AGP slots, the x850 mostly comes with PCI-E. I have a x600 Pro, but for me is enough to get pretty good graphics in BF2.

I have an X800XL AGP and I love it. I had an AIW9700Pro. There is a nice difference between the two cards.

Oh, and I only paid $300 (canadian) for it.

do they have that series in agp? I thought it was only pcie,

and for 300 bucks I recomend a 6800gt, or 6800gs+more ram, for that amount of money

im usin a 6600 GT that i paid only 150 for, and it is wonderful.....i load way faster than about 99% of other players, course I have a gig of kingston hyper-x and an AMD 64 3000+

so, Id recommedn the 6600 GT and use the extra money to buy another gig of ram

yea that card is good, but for about 60 extra bucks(and his budget is 300) he is better off with the 6800gs+more ram, or the 6800gt, since there is a big difference on the 6600gt, and 6800

I just installed an X800XL after my 9800 Pro got fried by a power surge (thank the good lord it was the only casualty… I'd been meaning to upgrade anyway was the kick in the ass I needed) the difference is rather large and it performs quite well for the price it cost me about 275 bucks with shipping.

For $300 you can get a nice video card as others have ably pointed out above.  Just as a caution, however, make sure if you do find a particular card your thinking to buy (ATI or nVidia), make SURE you research that particular card first.  Case in point:  The other day I was looking around at video cards pricing them out for a friend, I seen a GeForce 6800 for 90 dollars Canadian.  I'm thinkin WOW thats cheap for a 6800.  Turns out there are manufacturers now that are buying up the GPU's that dont pass the initial quality testing, they are then detuned to make them stable.  In that particular card they dropped the core clock down almost 50%, disabled half the pipelines, used 64bit memory addressing (instead of 256bit), and ran regular DDR instead of GDDR3, and the card had 64MB RAM instead of 256MB.  End result?  A card that runs like a GeForce 2 MX.  Think Cadillac with a small 4-banger for a motor in it.  So make sure if you come across something that looks like a really good deal.....check it out first!!

x800xt myself, works great, can run 1280x1040 with pretty much high everything. also make sure you get at least 2 gig of ram, that will help as much as anything.
