I have Logitech X530 speakers and a Soundblaster 24bit sound card. Everything is hooked up correctly and the speakers work when I test them using the Soundblaster diagnostic program. When playing BF2, or music on my computer etc, only the front left/right/woofer work. If I go into BF2 settings and set the Audio Render to Creative XFI I get an error message saying that my audio hardware is incompatible with the settings chosen. How the hell do I get 5.1 surround for BF2 and general media???!!! I have the Soundcard and the speakers... what more could I need!
well, look into your soundblaster software. i have 7.1s and it took me a while to realize that there was a little lever that you have to move down to make it go to surround mode ( sorry really confusing i'll try to explain)
so i have the soundblaster xfi extreme music. and i have it set to game mode. If you can bring up the little mode switcher (it should be the creative/xfi/mode switcher in your program files) then you can turn it to game mode. Then this little selecter should come up with a lot of tabs. click on the one that says CMSS-3D, enable it and move the slider down to about 79% (thats what works best for me). It should also have something that says Upmix mode, switch that to stereo surround, and you should be good.

Your card doesn't support X-Fi. There are only four cards that use the X-Fi chipset, and yours is not one of them. Try just using hardware mode, and see what you get. Come back and tell us how that worked.

I thought CMSS-3D just spoofed surround sound when it was coming from a stereo source like music files? I assumed setting the sound to hardware would provide true surround sound not stereoCommieChipmunk wrote:

hmm i'll have to try that hold on...crimson_grunt wrote:

EDIT: No CMSS-3D definently makes it surround sound... i just tried it without it and it only plays w/ the front 3 speakers, when i enable it and move the slider down to 79% i get all 7..

i'll go give hardware mode another go. last i tried, i had surround sound, but there was a background static that drove me crazy. i'll go try it again.TuRfYMaN wrote:

ok, i have the hardware setting checked, and it works..... execpt when voices come on such as "i need a medic" and the other in game voices, they become all choppy as if they were being said in a stutter.
any suggestions?

cmss-3d is a surround effect, NOT SURROUND.
I have an Audigy 2 card with either Turtle Beach Ear Force HPA 5.1 headphones or my Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1 setup.
Just use the "hardware" setting on high with EAX enabled.

been there, no good. i trun on hardware setting and the in-game voices come out all choppy and in little spurts as if the speaker was stuttering.Cowbell_Kevin wrote:
