I re-installed BF2 and download 1.3 full. Patching failed. So I search up about how to fix this. Everything I find is how to fix both BF2 and SF. So as we speak, I'm download 1.3 full from strategyinformer.com. I'm gunna try this site, thinking the one at File Front was corrupt. So if this patch doesn't work, how do I fix the patching failed issue? Something to do with the registry or something I think. Either that or uninstall and re-install BF2 again, which I'd have to do tomorrow because it's too late now.

So if it fails again, what do I do to fix it?

Somehow i knew this thread was going to appear...

When you uninstall, its always a good idea to clean up your registry, then reinstall. Download this, its free and very effective. it will clean up old registry entries, and your PC should be a lot more stable, and probably a little faster. Use it regularly, especially after installing/uninstalling programs. Its called CCleaner (CrapCleaner)

There may be an issue with the fact that you were using the 1.4 beta. I dont know anything about uninstalling that, so if you still have problems, post/search on that part of the forum.

K well the patching failed again, and when I go to play, it says 'mod/shaders/ligntning.fx' cant be found or something like that. I'll try CCleaner, and if that don't work then I'm really messed up.

Sure, I'll try.

I have two problems I need help fixing:

1. Patching failed
2. Missing files

I was going to uninstall, run CCleaner, then re-install on my parents side of the computer (the admin side), maybe that would work. And I know if I do that, then everything I installw ill have to go on the admin side.

That's the error that comes up. It says:

mods/bf2/shaders/lightning.fx not found!!! _DO_ check your working directory, _AND_ sync your shaders folder before calling upon your local rendering programmer/GP. (really!)

I uninstalled, rank CCleaner, reinstalled, tried the game, works fine, its when I try to patch the 1.3 full, it won't work.

The 1.3 patch won't patch. What do I do?

This exact thing happened to me once. Basic installation worked, but when I patched it didn't ... turned out that my nVidia video driver was out of date. The later patches of BF2 require the updated nVidia drivers.

I have an ATI card and it's up to date. So that can't be it.
