SF problems?

So my friend got his rank, so I'm playing SF for him so he can get 2 unlocks, but everytime I load SF and click "Multiplayer" I crash to desktop...anyone else having this problem? Happened like 3 times in a row

Question: Are you trying to load up an SF map while you are currently running vanilla BF2?

Goven, probably need more information to provide any useful help. Your first step in diagnosis is to run SF in windowed mode so that you might see any error messages that are generated. Then, post this error message along with any other information that might help (problems with BF2? ... able to run BF2:SF in the past? .... memory size .... etc.)

"Windowed Mode" is done by making a copy of your BF2:SF shortcut (so you preserve the original), right click and select properties, and then change the "target" line so that it says +fullscreen 0 on the end ... press OK, then click on your modified shortcut to open BF2:SF in windowed mode.

No. I checked my processes to make sure BF still wasn't running.

And orange;
1 gig of memory
Played SF a couple days ago.
Ran in windowed mode and no errors popped up. I just clicked multiplayer and it crashed.
And BF2 works just fine.

I can't find any information on that particular type of crash.

You also said that you were playing on his account in SF, does he own SF? Or are you just playing to get him 2nd tier unlocks?

He needs to have SF installed with his system in order to use said unlocks.

He needs to have SF installed with his system in order to use said unlocks.

He just plays at my house and I have SF.

Un-install/Re-install & re-patch is the one course of action that could solve the problem.

Perhaps ... but corrupted files usually are identified when operating in Windowed mode.

Aside from a reinstall, I gotta say that the only thing I can even remotely think of is that you are getting a memory error, but it should also happen at some point with BF2 (I think SF is more of a resource hog than BF2, but ... still, both programs should cause a crash if you are having a memory problem.

You might want to run memtest86 just to rule this out.

Most probably your cache is corrupted (you may have change you resolution)

Just clean your cache

../mod/bf2/cache

and

../mod/xpack/cache

Heh. Heh heh. I'm so stupid. Just got back from a football game vs our cross town rivals. Lost 6-28. We always lose against them . Anyways, I was making a mod the other day to try out the grenade launcher Supreme made, and I copied the xpack folder, but I renamed the wrong one. Lawl. So I just renamed "copy of xpack" to "xpack" and guess what, it works fine. Heh. I can't believe I'm in honors making a 4.0. Lawlz.
