I got an X-Fi Xtreme Music a few months back, and for the past month, I've had nothign but problems with it. Constant distortion and crackling in BF2 to the point where it's unplayable. The sound card works flawlessly with everything else though.

Do you have an X-Fi? If so, what kind? Do you get any distortion in BF2 or any other games? What kind of MOBO chipset do you have?

Help me out here guys...

Have you tried the newest drivers? I think the beta drivers helped a ton of people with that problem.

hey, i got the latest drivers off creatives site.

tried diff PCI slots, and a slew of other things, ntohign works.

so right now Im just out on a quest to figure out if others have asimilar problem, or if my particular card is just bogus.

this is from left field, but I've heard hyperthreading on some P4's has caused problems with the X-Fi.

Got an X-Fi Xtreme Music, Intel 975X Chipset and everything's fine with the sound.

Got the X-Fi Fatality Version and it works just perfect. Great sound, great headset feature - awesome..!

Running it on a Asus i975 with a INTEL 940 Processor.

But I did install the newest driver, before I even tried to run battlefield in the first place.

Remember to set it to Gaming Mode if you're playing BF2 or any other game.

I have the extreme music and I did have some rackling with the my first driver, I reinstalled the newest driver and my prob went away. If this is what you have already done, I would think the card is bad and try to get an RMA,

sometimes mine goes distorted and crackly after ive changed modes- its a pain cuz I cant just switch it back once bf2 is running, have to close bf2, switch back to entertainment mode then back to game mode and its fine again.
