lol...actually, there is little we can do. Verification Time depends on 4 factors:
1) Speed of your internet connection
2) Speed of your HD
3) RAM size and speed
4) speed of cpu
now, there are different views among the community which one of those factors is the most important. IMHO, it's HD speed, closely followed by RAM.
Two rules here: faster is always better. size does matter ( as far as RAM is concerned ). Post your specs and we might offer more precise information.
Also, I have encountered a change in verification time since the patch. However, verification times have gone down for me, not up...

Ive always thought that it was the longest damn process when loading. I just shoot through loading and stuff get like a 40-60 ping but still takes me two days to verify the damn client data.
i stand by my sarcastic comment i made earlier, but yes, ive noticed a change in my verification time too. in BF2 vanilla it was pretty quick...taking about 10 seconds...maybe less. now, with 1.12...the average is about 15 seconds. it varies greatly though...if i play on a server, disconnect, then play on a different server, i can load and verify in about 30-35 seconds total with about 5 seconds of that being verification. if i just start up BF2 and go in to play for the first time, it can take up to a couple minutes to load and verify, with about 30 seconds of that being verification.
I have noticed this also, I used to be one of the first people in the server, now sometimes there are 2 flags captured before I get in. Maybe punkbuster is scanning harddrives now instead of just memory, I don't know. I think that is what verifying client data is, is when it is scanning for cheats but I'm not sure.
