I don't usually trust people below sgt. major, and I've had lieutenants and above who couldn't gun or fly the helo worth a damn either. I hope in situations like that that it is a 24/7 Karkand type of player who is just now getting to the other maps. Still, to not be able to gun in the chopper is mind blowing to me, because the TV missles are really not that hard to use, and the guns are very deadly...even as a newbie in the gunner seat I was decent. Stuff like that is why I pretty much gave up on flying with anyone besides people I know to be good, friends, and randoms with ranks over first lieutenant.
I spent hours practicing in single player and in small servers to build up my skills before wasting others' time in a full, ranked server environment, and it's amazingly frustrating that many people who are very mediocre or even bad at flying AND gunning will nonetheless wait for the chopper over and over, all map long, and think nothing of splitting up a good 2-man team who is doing a lot to help the team win.

Not that impressed with your chopper skills to be honest. I will say that your TV missile skills are superb but going solo is not the best use of the chopper.slicknic wrote:

I don't consider myself the worlds best chopper pilot but I'd like to think I'm good. What I see you doing is wasting the rockets. In a lot of the situations seen in your video I would have lined you up for the TV kill and then taken another target myself with the rockets. Look at the times when you missed the Blackhawk; I would have taken it out after seeing you miss. So between us we would get more kills and help the team further.
Please don't get me wrong, I am trying to make a constructive critisism. You are very good with the TV missile but if you went gunner with a good chopper pilot you'd be at least 50% more leathal.
You do get some low ranks who are good gunners and pilots - but they are far and few. Just had a good one on Dalian, a Corporal. Within 5minutes of taking off with me as pilot, he'd knocked out 2 BH's, 1 Cobra and a boat

Some low ranked players are good but most of them blow at flying or been a gunner. So i was playing wake two days ago and this gunner gets in my heli he was sgt and he took out alot of infantry and 2 black hawks and also he got himself gold medal.

first i dont always solo... i dont tk for it unless they are jerks (usually tk me first). but 90% of the people out there dont know how to fly a chopper, and me soloing is 1000% more effective (seriously... think how many points/ enemies they kill compared to me. floating around sometimes capturing flags is not near as effective)
now i think if we worked in perfect harmony... maybe we could reach 50% more effective, but i doubt that high. when I missed the shots on the heli.. the distance wouldnt allow you to take it out w/ rockets any faster than me just reloading...
so id have to say going solo.. greatly benefits the team most of the time.. plus if someone is decent i dont mind flying w/ them. please look at my assist points... ive been a pilot for alot longer than ive been a gunner.

oh.. and i never made the video to impress anyone.. if i wanted to impress someone i would have spent weeks tryin to get the best/ coolest footage... i recorded everything in only a few rounds. i made the tutorials to teach people. me being solo doesnt mean thats the best way... its just easiest to explain the right things to do that way.
Yesterday I had a corporal who would do nothing but camp for the helo I was flying.
He couldnt gun an infantry down if I was 5m away. Seriously.
He shot the TV missile once. At the ground.
I told him to bail.
