Maybe this is common knowledge, and yes I did search around the forums, but why are there no available servers anywhere in the world today?  I see no new patch has come out, yet my Multiplayer mode shows nothing's up and my Favourites are all down (little picture of sattelite comes up when you try to connect).

What gives?

My bf2 server borwser gives me over 5000 servers. I think there is a problem at your end

Check your AV + Firewall, internet connection and perhaps your multiplayer clickies like "ranked" etc. something will be wrong somewhere.

just came out after 3 hours gaming. lots of crashes though, more than usual.

Looked closely at  my firewall and, lo and behold, the settings had been changed.

Seems my delightful yet headstrong wife had "upgraded" our security.

I fully recognize how weak this looks.

Thanks to all for the input - I was perplexed when I still got 6 servers.  You'd think a firewall issue would have blocked them all.
