Has anyone had that time where they havn't played a game for a long time and still own? I still remember a while back my friends asked me to play CS with them after i quitted almost a year before, and surprisingly i pretty much dominated them. I've only started BF2 about a month ago but now its back to studying for me so i guess i wont be able to touch it until Christmas break. I wonder if ill still remember how to play. Anyone else had a situation like this?
last time i stopped playing and picked up i sucked. but i only just recently started playing after another break and picked it up pretty quickly. but i did forget that i used the mouse to fly the chopper not the keyboard and i was wondering why i was doing so poorly
yes, especially with CS
i became even better at CS after going back from playing BF2

I actually think I play alot better if I haven't played in a while....
Yup, quit for 4 months, came back, and I own.
Yes, I retain my skills to click a mouse button.
well if i stop and start i got a 30 min barrier before i own.... but the messed up thing is if i play counstantly i start to suck, NOT just suck but like, the biggest naab that ever was, like snipping stopped playing that kit fell from 125 on the leader board to 473, now i pwan, Pwan if i don't have 20 for 1 K\D i feel real pissed... So no i guess i don't retain my skill's as long as i play.. lol messed up right?

It takes me a couple round, but yes, i can retain my skills from a game pretty easily
any true gamer can pick up any game & do well with short notice, its in the blood.

er well i cba to read any of the replies above but i was playing cs since 1.2b till cs:s. stopped playing years ago properly (ala clan match/mixes) coz my clan had a sudden influx of 17/18 yo goons who fucked me off frankly. aha...rapidly to the point i stopped playing for about 8 months then had a quick pubby game with my ex-cl and ended up 29-3....:s and that was on ukt server ( man there were some reasonable peeps who played a lot on those servers..ie they didnt automatically start shouting random insults at peeps who boned them and annoyingly most of the reg's were pretty fucking good tbh. spect to all the peeps who's name i cant remember .
wtf...ftw....etc.
just goes to show what a difference a pc with more than required specs can make ( i started on a 700 mhz p2 with a 56k conn and a ping of 350 ).

For me, it seems like when ever I take a break from a game for a while (bf2 for the most part) when I come back and play again I usually do even better.
You don't need to tell me. By the way, how is your girlfriend doing? Is she walking ok now?AK5489 wrote:

Anyways, I used to be CAL-I in CSS. I started playing bf2, go back to CS and it takes me a month to get any sort of "skill" back but it's coming faster now...
Generally I retain my skills, but then again I've been gaming now for 20 years.

Im usually only good at the beginning of a round, where i might get scores like 12-3 or such (well, thats pretty good for me )
Then after a couple of tens of minutes, im killing less and dieing more

it depends on how 'leet' u are when u leave. i recently did this... and you can see by my stats (go to history, then score) that for a long time my spm steadily increased... then i stopped playing for two months.. and the first day or 2 i was back i had a massively good score, but i knew it would fade and sure enough the next few days were rough. i did stop playing as much infantry as i was when i had left (which increases spm) but still, you can still see im not quite up to par as to where i was.
I still find it hard to believe quitted is a word. If you dont believe me look it up at www.m-w.com. It surprises me, because it sounds like its just horrible grammar lol.ChyneseGUY wrote:

But to answer your question, yes I do. The first game usually is a little rusty, but once I get in the mind set of the game, remember all the controls etc, yeah, skillz are still there.
It kind of depends. A lot of games I play there's a few tricks I know that involve the game engine and timing so it takes me a while to get used to it. Also if there's something different with a certain game and I'm used to a different style by that time it takes a bit. However, I can't play Counter Strike anymore. I haven't been able to play well since the 1.3 days because they removed the bunny hopping and the whole aiming engine changed. I was always the guy who would jump circles around and enemy and shoot him up, now you can't even jump in that stupid game, not without stopping in mid air first. That's why I went to Team Fortress Classic and dominated there. I'd do a little worse in TFC now because I was used to all the conc jumps but if I just played as soldier or something I'd have no problem with it.
