The very Zeus arguement is flawed after research to begin with, seeing as he is said to be the son of previous gods. You better start comparing it to a religion that works then, you wouldn't want anyone to think you're stupid, would you? Better luck next time.

Lineage or the supposed absence thereof has a bearing on the plausibility of belief in fantastical characters how?DesertFox423 wrote:

Zeus created his father so that he could be born. It's true, Zeus really is all powerful. He holds himself back so the other gods don't get too jealous (you know how they are).DesertFox423 wrote:

Lug FTW. I had to use Zeus for the benefits of reaching a wider audienceIG-Calibre wrote:

Although there are certainly a LOT of different religious groups who do believe in GOD (the "real" god if you know what I mean..)
oy
A mod should make a sticky for "do you believe in god?" , etc. threads. There have been to many.

I believe in the Christian/Israeli god.
Does CP = CameronPoe ?
this is very true, and not that long ago on this very Island that we both live on, being "Left" handed was a clear indication of the devil at work in a person. My father who is naturally left handed, used to have his left arm tied behind his back and was beaten repeatedly until he learned to write with his right hand. Must of been so fun to live in 1950's Cavan eh? gotta love the Cristian Brothers fine educators and men of God..leetkyle wrote:

My opinion also. I can't beleice our world was just made up by one god, and I have a really hard time beleiving what the bible says. The bible has also been translated so many times there is no possible way it can be close today to what it was say... a few hundred years ago.R3v4n wrote:

im sick of relegion, its bullshit, and i mean liek you say you believe in god and the bible etc etc, but you still go and have sex 50 times before you get married, you wank non stop though your teen years and swear, and "sin" against everything, i mean the only real cristians left are the flanders from the simpsons (seriously)
no
Meet you there DesertFox. We'll all have a blastDesertFox423 wrote:
I hope you have a nice stay in hell then, CP.
I believe in God in a way, but there is no way I can obey His will.
Don't believe. Wasn't brainwashed into believing it as an impressionable child, and I've never had compelling reason to believe in him/her/it. Believe what you want, just don't try and force it on me.
On that note! Around my motherfucking uni the Christian people have been putting up posters about Christ... fair enough, but then they come to our halls and put them up there and then post crappy books to EVERYONE in the halls thats nearly 30000 crappy little religious books.

I'm surprised Atheists got the most votes, but here's to being in the semi-majority!

i believe what i want to and what makes sense to me, not what im told to believe in or ill be punished for it
I nulled, its too sensitive a topic
Don't think this true. I am pretty sure the bible is considered one of, if not the most, accurate documents dating back that far. It has changed very little since it was written.Matix5435 wrote:

Also, evolution and creationism may be intertwined. Just a thought.
Not true. If you understood Christianity, you would understand that humans are "fallen". We are striving to be Christ like. We will never be faultless, but we are susposed to be striving towards it. A true christian will not follow these ways to stay within the rules of christianity, but because they feel it in their heart and want to do it for their love of God.Mongoose wrote:

On the other hand, someone who truely believes in Christ would not want to act the way you describe. They may fall a few times, but are always trying to get back up and climb higher.
Wow that sounds preachy. I just know that my life is much more fulfilling to me living it for a higher pupose than my own. A lot of people don't understand how a life being led for someone else would be anything but drudgery. In fact it is so much more rewarding. You will never understand until you've given your life over to God and Jesus, and let your own desires come secondary. Not that I expect many here to understand, but I just wanted to share my perpective.

Tit for tat, I guess. Atheists picket churches, religious folk drop off books.Vilham wrote:

How can you respect people who believe in something you find so ridiculous?genius_man16 wrote:
