Dell is having to recall more than four million laptops after reports that the batteries have been catching fire. Lithuim-ion batteries have a tendency to overheat, and so far Dell has said its aware of six cases in which batteries began to smouldering and damaged funiture or belongings. The recall affects Sony batteries in 2.7 million Dell laptops that have been sold in the US, and a further 1.4 in the rest of the world between April 2004 and July 2006 Approximately 18% of Dells entire output of notebook PCs are affected, though the number of British sold Laptops is yet to be revealed. If you are afraid that your laptop might be affected these are a few things you can do: A] Don't leave it running unattended B] Don't use your laptop close to flammable sudstances and C] Stop using the battery altogether, and get in touch with Dell to obtain a replacement
