look at it this way when it comes out in europe more release games most bugs will be smoothed out also, if you really really really want one on november 17th its region free just get a jap one!!!!!

Actually, the people next door to me just bought an "old ps2" (slim) and Guitar Hero so they wouldn't have to borrow my ps2 and my friend's game to play.
Europe always gets things a lot later than Japan and the US (take what a few days for the launch to travel over the Pacific but ages to get over the Atlantic).

I get it the day Thanksgiving break starts here in the States. w00t. I don't know why release dates are later in Europe, probably should do some research into that but I have class, so... it'll have to wait for another 4 hours.

NA release day figures down to 400,000, due to the diode problem.
The release dates are later in Europe due to problems with "Blu Ray laser diode".
Also new to me is the fact the system won't come with a HDMI cable, and Blu Ray can apparently only play 1080p...

To be honest the reason they are releasing it, evrywhere else apart from eu, because of the shortage of units. Remember what happend to the 360, its a good idea financally, plus more time for us to save up £599, lol

I wasnt planning to get one before summer 2007 anyway so meh, Besides the only reason europe was selected to be delayed was the fact that europe is sonyland. USA is xbox360 japs are odd and seem to buy quirky pieces of shite (DS, Wii) and europe seems to do PS predominately with xbox behind but not by a massive margin.

Strange considering the PS3 is completely backwards compatible with the previous systems, thus it must be able to play CD-ROMS and DVDS, it can't however play HD-DVDs.
Did you honestly believe that PS3 was going to come out on time???
not bothered in the slightest...got a pc for gaming (obviously), and i can just add a blu-ray drive to that (seen them available all ready, but not worth buying untill the films start coming out in that format). and anyway, the nintendo Wii looks far more fun to play....
No, sorry. I meant they won't be capable of HD output in 480p, 720p, or 1080i, only in 1080p. This is something I have yet to personally confirm (the apparently part). Another assumption, on my part, is that there is probably 3 or 4 models of televisions in existence to date capable of handling 1080p, and they're not cheap (haha, probably made by sony).USAFDude_1988 wrote:

Until I find confirming evidence of the 1080p thing, I'm also going to assume that HD-DVD will be capable of playing hi definition movies in 480p, 720i, and 1080i, but not 1080p.
Regardless, when it's all said and done, a lot of money will be spent to get your blue ray or HD DVD's looking good (including your consoles ).
