There are roughly 16 ranked v1.02
There are roughly 112 ranked v1.03
There are roughly 2270 ranked v1.12
There are roughly 15 EA ranked v1.03, non of which are in your country. Mostly in the US, Korea, and one in Hungary. There are 3 ranked v1.03 servers in the Netherlands.

(I created filters for All Seeing Eye to find these.)

According to the www.bf2s.com website it says i have 100 % progress to some of those ranks already .

Without knowing your PID, or in-game name, I can't tell you where you'd be, if you patched to v1.03.

Why don't you just upgrade to 1.12?

The only reason i could imagine for staying at 1.02 are the major points you get by blackhawk whoring

Regarding promotions, when I was running 1.02, I was in the same boat - I had 100% of Lance Corporal and Sergeant, but it wasn't giving me the new ranking. once I upgraded to 1.03, I got them both right away upon entering a game.

Every patch is going to cause some problems for some users - it's inevitable with the infinite amount of configurations. Only people that have problems are going to be posting messages about it so it always seems like a lot of people are having problems. No one is going to post a message saying "Hey I just updated BF2 to 1.12 and everything is working fine - WTF?".

By looking at the number of servers still running the old versions I don't see any reason not to upgrade to the latest release. I had some minor issues when I first updated to 1.12 after installing BF2:SF, but they cleared up on their own after a reboot.

By the way, whoring (IMHO) is meant to describe the use of a "feature" that is counter to how it should be used in the spirit of the game. If you take a tank and park it outside an uncapturable base (when your team still has flags that can be captured) just to spawn kill - that is whoring. Using the blackhawk just to hop from flag to flag to rack up points - but not to defend any of the flags would be whoring. I've seen people rack up some insane points through different activities, but they were not helping their team to win. I think there should be some sort of "bonus" for the members of the winning team to counter that activity.

I'd still recommend updating to 1.12. Don't you have friends playing with you ? Or are you in some kind of weird "lets-keep-our-game-old" community ?

btw, wake is the same as in BF1942.
