Can you tell on your minimap or 3d map who needs ammo? Sometimes I see the regular blue dot of a teammate but its outlined in red, are these people calling for ammo? Lets say your defending a big flag (hotel on mashtuur) and people are asking for ammo ('Need ammo!'), do these requests show up on your radar? What about the silent ones who dont request over the radio, do they show up on your radar too? Assuming they're half empty on ammo?

Its pretty annoying running over to someone to try and give them ammo, then they're all full. Or you get shot in the back trying to get to somebody who might not even need your ammo. Plus all the wasted sprint time, these guys are slow but I think this is one of the kits I want to get good with.

I guess this question applies to medics too, especially for healing, not just reviving

Quite simple... once someone yells for medic, ammo or repairs, is icon changes on the map.

The icons are:

Red Cross in white circle: Medic needed, still alive
Orange lightning in red circle: Medic needed, dead (get you defib ready)
3 horizontal bars in white circle: Ammo needed
Wrench in white circle: Repairs needed

Those icons only become visible to the respective classes. A medic will never see an ammo request icon on his map.

Actually, the requesting person sees the icons as well as they mark the position of the players who can fulfill the request as well

you sound like you might be trying to hard at it. ammo is about the easiest of the support kits (repair, medic and ammo i mean) to get gold on imo.  they do show up on the minimap as needing ammo sometimes, but you might have more luck looking for situations that will help you get the ammo points. like anti tank personnel running around, they fire one rocket you can resupply them for a point. try to join a squad with them on a map with lots of armor and you should rack up the ammo points. try leaving a kit around a busy flag too, or in the hallways or doorways of some areas, like iron gator or the palace on warlord. now that i think about it the most ammo points i ever got was on iron gator or great wall. Thats really a good map to get them, get on a squad thats on the wall and remember to drop some packs over the wall by one of the choke points for your teams tanks and apc's and engineers to use. I got over 40 ammo points once that way.
