I just bought a sound card that supports 5.1. Its a ..ahh...sound blaster audigy 24 bit. When i select hardware in the audio options i do get surround sound but the voices are all distorted and choppy or slow. Like "enemy infantry spotted", is distorted. Doing some research i found that it might just be a bug. Anyone else get this or know how to fix it?
Try to play a little with EAX settings, I had similar problems with another game, it appeared that the in game EAX settings were not correct.SargeX_au wrote:

I got the same problem... it seems that this sound card of ours is not capable or compatible with hardware rendering, work fine on the option SOFTWARE of the game . Strange but it is.
Good luck
Good luck
i have the exact same problem and still haven't been able to find an answer. i have a SB live.
In SOFTWARE sounds better than in HARDWARE. . .
. . . in HARDWARE is an optamization, reducing the quality of the sound, yet releasing the CPU of certain tasks.
. . . also your cache files, .con files, profile files, almost certainly contain hardware specific references to your OLD sound card; and therefor need to be deleted.
I had to delete my cache + profile after I installed the new Creative X-FI card & drivers, when I replaced the on-baord sound that came with my motherboard. . .
Then,
Retrieved my account
Reset Video, audio, controls, etc to my tastes
The shader optamization ran making a new cache . . .
If you pay attention I believe SOUNDS is included and displayed when the shader optamization RUNS,
but I am not certain.
