well.. ive never posted a complaint before but this one has really burned my ass the past few weeks... i never gun in the chopper.. my computer loads fast enough that usually i am the first in so its never really been an issue.. but lately ive been changing things up a bit to add a little more spice and what not... please.. please.. if you gonna pilot at least give us a chance to get off a halfway decent tv guided... i cant count how many times in the past week we have had a perfect shot on a chopper, tank, even infantry for it to be botched by a missile happy pilot..

and please... please dont concentrate on one area.. i fly fast and medium (150m) to low height (5-10m)... spot armor climb and line my gunner up.. if you stay between buildings or trees you can surprise your target, are shielded from enemy tv missiles and a bitch for pilots to handle....

also staying high isnt always a bad thing.. especially if your team isnt spotting for you.. but when its mostly infantry running around hovering low.. BEHIND your own troops using terrain or buildings for cover really helps reaping higher scores.. if you stay far enough away you can dodge tank/at rounds and have time to spot enemy choppers... also dont circle strafe until you have a few friendlies in the area... that helps keep those sneaky at guys from hiding and getting sneak shots off on you...

well im not claiming to be the best.. not even by a long shot... but i do have 6400 driver kill assists with just over 100 hours in.. hope this helps and may we meet in the sky one day

It's not rude when they either can't fly or gun. They ruin your teams chance at winning. Let them whine that they don't get air time, they can go to single player for that shit. The objective is to win, simple as that. On 32 player dragon valley, I load up first, get in the US solo the entire round and get 60+ kills + the win.

Or.. you could find some really good Pilot/Gunners on a Pub server.. the wake server i play on i never have a hard time finding a good Pilot or gunner..

Does that mean i never get a bad gunner or Pilot? No.. but most of them aren't bad..

Yesterday i had about 4 rounds on wake above 150 pts in a Chopper.. i was gunner, and the Heli pilot wasn't bad..

its not about the win... or the points... or the awards.... or the stats.... its about everyone having fun... you think your 1337 cause you can solo tv guided (which with 2hrs in single player any moderate pilot can master) and i see you only have 1200 driver assists which tells me you do it a lot... its about teamwork bro... why dont you invite the noob to your squad and get on the mic? 90% of well lined up shots dont need to be turned anyway... enemy choppers are your only worry then.. when it gets like that i seek them out.. then worry about ground or just hang around your aa vehicles.. lets face it we all sucked at one time or another and had to learn....

Only time I fly is if I know i'll get a good gunner, then I can play it safe, rack up the assists, and go for the casual attack.

Dazed, your preaching to the choir my friend.  I cant fly for crap....I can get around, but Im by far skilled at flying.  But I love to gun in choppers.  Most of that time, I dont get to a chopper before its full or, Im stuck with a pilot who is a tool and doesnt take in the fact that Im spotting out tanks, infantry, helos and anything the enemy has within site.  Instead of lining me up for a missile shot, or letting me plaster the flag area with bullets, he decides to fly in circles like a fucking merry-go-round, wasting his missiles at the side of a silo or in the water.

I actually just had a round with a noob pilot. He flew first and crashed within a minute. I told him to let me fly and we owned the entire round. When there's people there, I'll pilot and let them gun. But when they don't use their tv missiles, I want to crash it into the side of a wall, after I bail.

So this afternoon I was happily sitting in the gunners seat for a good three///four maps with a decent pilot who allowed me TV shots and chaingun shots.

Then I failed to get in quick enough, and a certain clan decided to gang around the attack chopper so no-one else could get it. There and then, I managed to get into the gunners seat with one of their pilots despite the blockade. Twelve "accidental" crashes by the pilot later and consecutively securing my place on the seat,  they decided to start laying it down to me on team chat. Proclaiming I was a "n00b" gunner and that I wasn't worthy of the seat. Why people slump this low, I don't know. Because as far as I'm aware - I can play however I damn want to play this game since I brought it. I'm not a bad gunner either, at least if I had the chance to shoot.

Vote kicks followed.

I got annoyed.

I left.

It sounds like they might have had it in for you, but sometimes ventrilo or teamspeak trumps whatever you have going with RandomGuy187. My mates and I will grab the chopper sometimes, and if we see that whoever wants to try to take it from us is just a random dude or is a commander, then we'll try to crowd him out.

Otherwise, I don't care, I'll just go for flags.

this is what i do when im pilot
if a noob gets in the helo he usually has been raped enough to know that the gun on the choppers are deadly to infantry so a noob gunning will get you kills killing infantry but they will suck at the tv missle
so i sneak up on apc's /tanks and blow em up with the dummy rockets

but hell its sooo hard to find random people while pubbing that are actually good at flying and at gunning so you can switch roles when you die... even though i have only been flying in the chopper only a little over 30 hours (over 2 accounts) i can hold my own while flying and gunning and i wish more people learn how to fly the helo's they arent really that hard once you get used to them....and damn it is hard to find random nubs to actually be good with the tv missles

yea ive found if you stick to servers that are at least 15 people away from being full the noobs will stay away from the chopper and jet.. dont know why.. but seems you get more experienced people flying with you in servers like that...

Some gunners are complete tards, but some can be very good.
Example, this guy: http://bf2s.com/player/72326273/

Looking at his stats, nobody would consider him an expert.
But look at the awards: helo ribbon, helo specialist ribbon, basic helo badge and his second gold medal all on September 12 (and probably his kill streak).
Guess what? I was piloting on Surge with him as gunner. Basically we won the match, killed every single tank on the map, won almost every fight against the enemy chopper and supported our team capping flags. At the end of the round he was all happy and thankful.

I'm not an ace pilot, I can do standard moves like circle strafing, hovering when needed, barrel rolls and stuff, but that's it.

My point is, anyone should have a chance, don't judge people by their rank.
Look how it goes, and then eventually say them to stay away/practice in single mode.

Other times on Dalian the both choppers crashes into each other just because they are racing for getting me as a gunner...  That just shows how hot I am right now!!!!!

I hardly get a fucking chance to fly since cock blocks TK for it or just hog the damn thing. BUT from my experience I've learned just hovering over a flag while your team caps it is the best damn thing to do. You can get some serious points doin that. Lemme tell ya I honestly suck at gunning. Funny story here...Me and some random dude got the heli in Sharqi. He asked if I can gun and I told him no so he lands and we switch. We're goin around doin purty damn good and the other heli rams us out of no where. I mean I didn't even see it comin. Well the dumb fuck that was gunnin started a vote to kick my ass out. I ended up getting kicked from the damn server cuz it was full of fuck tards. I got kicked cuz the admin was askin what was goin on and I said fuck you. End of story.

lol, i got kicked yesterday for saying stfu... there were three of us waiting on jets and chopper to respawn on oman.. the commander told us to stop spawning on the carrier... and BAM... got kicked... oh well i had the highest points so he was only hurting himself.. lol

Well different in the choppers are ofcourse their guns, MEC chopper is damn good cleaning vechiles and infantry because the gun have so damn big splash range. The USMC chopper is small but more easy to control so hitting a MEC chopper with TV missile easier than hitting the USMC. I always end up that the good pilots take the MEC chopper and keep killing people because their gun is like the first grenade launcher only that you have a lot more ammo and damn faster firerate.

How I miss the long range TV missile capable of shooting faar distance and taking out people at the flag without them knowing about it.
