NEW YORK  — Strangers consoled and cried with each other Monday as the nation paused to observe the moments when four hijacked jetliners struck the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and a field in rural Pennsylvania during the worst terror attacks on U.S. soil.

During the fifth anniversary of the terror attacks that killed over 3,000 people, the people of the United States took part in silent reflection and fresh mourning. The day was marked with quiet observances at the three attack sites — New York, Washington, Pennsylvania — and even in other cities and small towns.

On the 16-acre New York City expanse where the World Trade Center towers once stood, four moments of silence were held at 8:46, 9:03, 9:59 and 10:29 a.m., the times when jetliners struck each of the twin towers, and when each tower fell.

Spouses and partners of the 2,749 people who died at the Trade Center were reading the names of the victims; some included brief personal tributes to their own loved ones. Families of the victims began arriving before 7 a.m., many clutching pictures of their loved ones, descended the ramp into the depressed site to roam the area and lay flowers. Some wore pins bearing pictures of the victims.

If your birth caused a vaginal shockwave that caused the death of thousands of poor innocents.. then I will say it shook the world.

The next person, to use any, ANY, offensive word will have a three day vacation, to relax.
We all feel sorry for the Americans, but while you are crying about 3000 people 900.000+ people are starving to death in africa. HIV/AIDS, but no. That is in no way to be compared to 9/11. Hypocrites.

I can't help the fact that I am right and you are wrong. You simply need to open your eyes and quit whining about the 9/11 attack like it was the worst thing in history. The tragic part is that we will have articles and seremonies and videoes and interviews and "new shocking material" every fucking 11th september for many many years to come. They even made a movie about the whole plane crash thing. Still you americans talk about it every day. I suggest we all forget what happened that day and move on. I bet that 30 years from now on americans will piss their XXL pants when their flight departs the 11th september. You are the assholes.
You'd feel the same way if terrorists nuked Oslo.. oh wait no you wouldn't.. you're an insensitive moron.
I have an idea, lets nuke him.  Wait wait, that wouldn't solve anything... Actually, it would, we wouldn't have to deal with you.

Dude, if you were living in America at the time you Norwegian Bitch, you would understand why it was such a big event for us.  It reshaped the whole country, in a way you might not understand.  Up yours, asshat.  There hasnt been an event like this is America for a long time, so yes, we care much about it.  Im not saying 9/11 should have the sympathy of the world, because I know thousands are dieing every day due to things like starvation and other causes, Im just saying, there hasnt been many tragic events in America, so we make a big deal about it.

I agree that there are terrible things that are happening in the world... some much worse than what happened on 9/11.

It's just that CruZ4dR's comments were way out of line.

More like the day that changed the world for better or worse. The repercussions have been so widespread its hard to keep up. I still have hope that one day men of reason will rise up & be able to see past any veil that blinds & binds them in anger, that one day everyone would have the chance to become the very best they possibly could be without being persecuted because of their ability or vision or social status.
I also have hope that men will forget about religion long enough to discover who they are & what they can do & what they think, before considering God & his will.
Why must it always be a tragedy that unties us & makes us focus as one able to accomplish any goal, if the goal is known.
If men continue to forsake thought they will soon discover what fate they have chosen for themselves.

Of course its a big deal to the US citizens, I fully understand that. But what I don't like however is that when media say that the world still haven't gotten over it. And it totally shocked the world and so on. It didn't shock me but I wasn't expecting it either. So please don't  say " the whole world stood still" or " Whole planet was in shock", thats pushing it. As someone said, far worse things happen for everyone else(not from USA) to care to long about it.
But its horrible what happened.

"The day that shook the world"???? WOOT?? The media has filled you head with stupid sayings and messed up focus on things that does not matter. I wasn't shook at all the 11/9/2001. Have you ever considered that there might be worse catastrophies happening somewhere else in the world as we speak? Yes, many people died at the same time and we all love americans with their fat asses running around making small and big reports about how they stuck their cheese sandwiches in their fat throuts when they saw a plane crash into a building. I hate you all
Why was my post deleted? So I get my post deleted while this fuck ass gets to bash whoever and whatever he feels like with no objections?Fuck that!
no shit its a forum.. thats whats its for... if anything CruZ4dR was wrong and should have been deleted.... +1 for you BrOk_MoRdU

Well technically the world hasn't gone over it.. Iraq and Afghanistan are the repercussions of the 9/11 attacks.
