you guys have so much gold from ransacking all the world or holding most of the world countries from like 1600's till like 1900's from, Britain held large portions of the world. Also you have the strongest currency in teh world.

Since when has it got stronger ?? as in verus the English Pound  £1 = EUR 1.47 thats pretty weak tbh
I wasn't talking relative to the pound. I meant relative to the rest of the world.
The rest of the world means the dollar, and the euro is tied, to some extent, to the dollar. The dollar is also a weak currency.

pwnt!

anyway, one of the reasons goods are cheaper in the US because more goods are manufactured there than in the UK and also because the goods that the US DO import are imported in a far greater bulk than the UK do, so that effectively lowers the cost per item.

However, i believe i'm right in saying that the American economy is in recession?
whereas the brit economy is in a pretty good rate of inflation

eh.. recession or not.. I like buying a new 1500 square foot house for $80,000.

EDIT: ..but I suppose that price depends on where u are in the US.

We are clearly one of the most expensive countries there is forking out about £2000 ($3,700) for a teenage boy to insure a car for a year! Females of the same age paying around half as much! i paid £15 to get a return train from North London to Central London at 6.30am today!!!! We are over charged for everything and every thing gets taxed heavily!
24% of our wage goes to tax! If you get a tax rebate it gets taxed what more can i say!!!??

yeah, i don;t get the tax system.
part of the tax on your wages goes towards your state pension, however when you retire at 65 (in 50 years for a lot of people on this forum), you get taxed on your state pension as you get it

They tax everything! Even inheritance! If you inherit a house from your parents/grandparents or whoever u have to pay a portion of the value of the house for taxes! Even tho they have just spent 25 years paying off the mortgage (which was taxed)!

everythin is imported.....and the average household income is £30,000 - 45-55,000 dollors so high prices and obviously high taxation rates...i dont  mind though...theres a war going on so it needs to be funded!!

Anyone know what the average price for Gas is in the US?

We currently pay on average £0.92 per litre here which is $1.71 per litre
In Canada here (Prairies), we paid about $1.09 a few weeks ago, but its slowly going down each day. It's 96.9 cents right now.

Just one thing; you get paid a shitload less. Minimum wage runs from about US$3.52 to $4.63. In comparison to around over 5 dollars an hour.

Oh wait, 5 dollars an hour?
Minimum wage here is 4.63 US dollars... a DAY. Less than FIVE DOLLARS in a full DAY.

...If you're lucky, that is.
Oh damn.  They're about to raise the min wage in Cali to over $8 an hour! wtf?

The North Sea reserves are running low and soon it will not be economically viable to drill.
Also oil is heavily taxed, at the beginning of the year Gordon Brown doubled the tax on north sea oil. This has in turn caused a decline in investment in north sea oil.
