I think it would end up being more of an annoyance rather than a blessing.

How would you change kit from a supply crate. The G button couldn't be used to pick a kit, how would you do it? Would you need to assign a whole load more buttons to be kit select from supply crates, or maybe hold G to bring up a select HUD like with comms?

claymore/at mine and medikit/ammo package spamming would be huge.

It would be a cool concept. Either at the supply boxes or the captured flags as done in StarWars Battlefront II.
About the guys who say it would be a spam fest. You could make it so that you can only change kits once per supply box.

a 3 second delay between kits where you can't shoot or move
