I generally wait for them to slow down, easier shot.

It depends. I like to attempt a shot on moving targets or longrange shots (target is a shadow)
My dependency is the lag on the server and the ping. With higher pings it becomes almost impossible to predict you aim on running targets and it becomes more luck then skill to hit them
Exercise makes you better is placing your aim. I can currently keep my accuracy in whatever situation the target is (stand-up, lay-down, running, walking or long range).
However I raraely get a single shot kill, but I usually hit the target inficting some damage. In a lot of occasion I do need even 3 shots to finish them off, especially the long range or running targets. Luckily some (running) targets go prone as soon a they are hit so giving you the ultimate situation to finish them off.
This happens alot in long range shots as the target has no clue where you're firing from.
Allthough the M95 inflicts more damage and it''s fun to shoot a pilot out of it's chopper or a driver out of his transport I prefer the SVD and M24 for running targets. The faster reload time prevents your target often from escaping after your first hit.

Well i used to wait till they walk (slow jog) then go for the hs and most of the time i was succesfull but theres the odd miss, but now because of the patch my ISP has throtteld my connection or some shit so now ive got a bad ass delay time so when i hit a player on my screen he isnt where the bullets have gone but im shooting what i can see but my speeds slow so it dosnt show him moved so i shoot where i think he is and i dont hit anything and they just kill me its the same with sniping so i have alot of trouble on moving targets, untill i get my speed back then ill be back to better playing:)

i don't tend to but if i'm trying to get someone in particular then i try to get them when they are running and if i get a head shot on them i pretty much go ballistic like "oh yeah, oh yeah n00b eat it, EAT IT" i think i say that even if i get a head shot anyway but when they are running the neighbours could probably hear me yelling lol

I think I aim the way I learned to while playing flight simulators of various sorts over the years.

I track him and lead him with my site and pull the trigger when I'm satisfied I figured out his movement for the next .3 secs or whatever the distance is.   I'm moving my site at the time I pull my trigger, and hopefully I'm matching his movement when I pull the trigger.   I didn't know that it was affecting my accuracy much by moving my site at the time I pulled the trigger.

My favorite are the ones when they are running toward me with little deflection - those ones can produce several head-shots in a row when you get a clump of em running toward your hidden bush.

I've been really getting into sniping lately, since 1.4 and IO.  I've found that I have an affinity for the long distance stuff.  In the beginning of rounds I'm scoping a flag area from from 170-200M if possible.  I found that I am winning most of the sniper duels I'm getting into (which can be like "Enemy at the Gates" sometimes").  I can reliabely hit moving targets out to maybe 75M, but generally I like to wait until they stop moving.  I generally try for head shots, too.   Usually they move when you miss and hit the body, so it's worth it to wait for them to stop moving.

I hit them 8/10 times, its still a bit challenging, but i love those shots from us island on wake, headshotting a guy running towards bunker.........very satisfying. Not as much as a shock paddle kill, but close.

I usually run around the edge of the map till I am flanking the other team. Then kill any that take cover. With the new infantry only this works even better.

Newbie sniper...but my 2c anyway.

I usually wait for them to stop or go prone....."IF I CAN AFFORD THAT"

But nothing beats leading the target just a bit and dropping him in a dead sprint.

I take pot shots at runners when I feel like they'll be a threat or are the only target.  On Jalalabad I've gotten a lot of kills sniping the US infantry running from the Lake base to the Market.  Its wide open and not that hard to line up the shots.  However, I usually take out the people who are taking some cover (not moving) or other snipers that might cause my team to lose the defensive advantage.

When leading a target if I get a hit, depending on range I keep tracking or pull out my pistol.  When tracking at range a bunny hopper, its actually easier because they can't sprint away from the firing so you just wait for them to jump aim where they will land "boom" even if you didn't get the kill at least they're screwed because they can't sprint for cover only hop more, which you obviously figured out how to defeat.

The best leading a target kills are killing the driver or passenger of a moving vehicle, its very satisfying.

I miss running targets more than i hit, actually it's lag. On SP it's fine, when playing online all i get is white puffs 80% of the time.

On an interesting note, I was at the north village on Wake and looking across the water to the other side of the island. I saw a little enemy figure running along the ridge so I tried my luck at a moving shot. I hit the guy, but didn't manage to kill him.
So what?
North Village to South Base on Wake is a pretty standard shot.
I get most of my sniper rifle kills on that distance with moving targets.
But I always wait until they run out of energy for the sprint, with a bit of experience you know exactly how much you gotta lead them.Hitting them is easy,a clean headshot is the awesome thing to do.

In the two times that I've actually gone sniping for a few days I waited for a clear shot as I suck at predicting movement/height loss.

Can't be bothered to practice it so much.
Maybe that's why you don't like snipers?
No real idea what it's all about?
Another reason for your apathy might be that you've encountered a lot of people using the sniper-kit which weren't snipers at all....

If you only wait for a clear shot you'll end up with 5-7 kills in a round, depending on map and how suicidal you get.
And if you keep plinking away at the charging enemy from a flank you actually help out the team(snipers and teamwork?no way?YES WAY!),one hit from your rifle either means a kill for you or an easy kill for a team-mate and a kill-assist for you.

I find the only problem with hitting moving targets is consistency of movement. ie,.. if someone is running left to right and suddenly stops or slows to a walk just as you fire you find the shot just goes in front of them and is rather annoying. As a preference I would rather shoot at running targets instead of walking ones. Looks way cooler on a fraps vid to nail a 400m running headshot.

Hitting moving targets is based on luck many times because of server side prediction as opposed to client side prediction.

If the target is moving slowly then its feasible, but a target sprinting left and right is just all luck.  No skill involved.
May I ask why you chose to post in an 8 month old thread? I'm not criticizing, just that you usually see people open whole new topics up when this could be done.
