When installing the latest patch v 1.12, I get the error message, "3GB space needed".  Problem is, I have 88GB's available!   My Sony Vaio PC has a hard drive divided into two, the C drive is tiny and used for easy system recovery.  I installed BF2 to the much larger, D drive so it would fit.  All I can figure is that the patch is trying to install to the C drive, there is no option to choose which drive where it goes.  I am reinstalling BF2 as of this writing to make sure it ALL went to drive D before.  Any ideas ?

I just reinstalled but, still get the same error message.  I have never ran into more problems with a game than this one.  I'm about to say ta hell with it and go back to CounterStrike or City of Heroes.  The issues I have had with this p.o.s. would fill pages- lol.

Well it seems that BF2 just has to add a folder to your documents and it is on my C part of the split drive.  I had no choice but delete programs until it was low enough.

This thread has a workaround:

The only one that appears to work is the registry edit several messages down.
