Apparently some people don't use a joystick for helos. I just got one, and I love it for planes, and it's nice for helos, but ffs, for some reason my joystick's twist left/right is inverted in game. I would guess it would do that for everyone. I bought it all psyched about the twist function but it's mirrored and it's making it almost impossible to fly.

So has anyone fixed this problem, or even have it?

I usually fly stick...

But sometimes, I can't perform as well as I do with my mouse.

Depends on my mood.

Oh, I figured it out. It reads "joystick - axis for both left and right, but it still reads separately.

Holy crap, lol. It makes a big difference, I can fly into a carrier at full speed and land wherever I want without damaging the chopper or anything. This is good.

Well we tested J/S vs M/K it seems with a M&K settings @ 10:10:10 you get above J/S settings I could pull off moves that my clan mate couldnt on a J/S.

Maybe he's not good with a joystick?

I can do some pretty crazy stuff in a heli with a joystick. Not that "crazy stuff" really matters when really flying...

I can recover the chopper from just about anything with no problem. I try flying with a mouse...even at 10/10/10 and at 2000DPi with a Logitech G5, it doesn't react as fast as my joystick does. It just doesn't have that split second adjustment that I need.

I definitely prefer stick for jets, but when it comes to choppers nothing but keyboard. I would say I'm pretty good, and can do alot more extreme close shot setups for either tanks or choppers. I always fly for my gunner though, hence the crapp helo k/d.

Go into your BF2 control settings and make sure the control for "turn left" is twisting the joystick left and vice versa.

Mouse and keyboard is the way to go for a heli.. joystick is the way for a jet... simple as that.

Why don't some of you actually try using a joystick for choppers instead of using it for 2 rounds, going 'meh', and spamming your bullshit on forums?

I hope that was a joke. You still gun with the mouse.

I prefer joystick, although now playing on a laptop at university w/o one I can still manage choppers with a mouse. But i can't fly them damned planes worth shit w/o a stick.

I use a Logitech Extreme 3D when possible. Just something basic.

So if you fly the heli with a joystick, how are you supposed to solo tv or solo gun?

tried it both ways (joystick / mouse), mouse/keyboard combo is much easier and more precise for helos.. stick with it

Well, normally one moves his or her hands onto their keyboards/mice and proceeds to fire said TV missle without trouble.

At least, I have no trouble moving my arms/hands

do you?

when you set the rudder in your control menu, are you twisting your joystick the right way, if so, try twisting it in the opposite direction.  and then pick up your new game controller and try twisting that in each direction when you calibrate.

*raises hand* to all the idiots going 10/10/10 or 1/1/1, may I state:

It does not make a difference

Simply because its the RATIO. 10:10 = 1:1 = 4:4. Only if you go 2:5 like me or something THEN the difference is obvious.

Are you sure your in the right thread? I think hes talking about the sensitivity, which would make sense, 10 yaw, pitch, roll....

I really don't have room on my desk for my joystick and mouse. And no reason to be a smartass about it. I just can't picture how it would work all that well. Especially solo gunning. If you even know how to do that.
