I'm pretty sure EA send you an email telling you that your account has been suspended and that you have to take it up with PB if you want to appeal.

maybe he used a fake email address at signup?

Never had that coming, and error messages are too often misleading... But for me that error message sounds like the BF2 game cannot connect to the account server...

Do you have any firewalls installed? Application ones or e.g. in your ADSL box?

In the case you have an application firewall, you need to give BF2 the right to access the network again after reinstalling. So check that.

In case of an external firewall, check you have the necessary ports opened and forwarded.
