So i'm downloading the newest version of Americas Army using bit torrent and in the log section it says "peice 2404 failed hash check". Not sure what i should do. Is it actually a problem? Should i start the D/l over? (i just started downloading about 20 minutes ago so i guess it would really be that big a deal) or is it possible/ nescesary to download that specific part again?
what the hell are you doing playing (or attempting to play) americas army for??? whats wrong with bf2?? and if you have issues why the fuck post them on a site dedicated to bf2????
I'd check on Americas Armys' forum.
First of all. thanks for the helping me out with the issue i'm having.Mongoose wrote:

Second of all when the fuck did i mention having a problem with BF2? I happen to play and enjoy both BF2 and Americas army. They are both good games. If you have a problem w/ ppl who dont like bf2 then you need to go talk to the people who bitch about every little bug and issue. Not me, someone who has been a loyal player for about a year now.
Third of all this post is in the Tech section. Not the BF2 section. Not the BF2 tech section. Just the tech section I'm having a technical issue and i know that there are people who are knowledgable in this kind of stuff so i thought i'd ask a simple question.
Fourth of all, unless you have something constrictive to say, fuck off.
Thanks for the suggestion. i've posted this on a few forums. Just trying to better my chances of getting a better answer as its not really an Americas Army specific question. And Sir, i salute you for not being a douche.TrollmeaT wrote:

A failed hash check means that a part of the file has been corrupted. This is USUALLY corrected in the IP protocol where a control code ensure that the arriving package is "ok" (otherwise it's re-sent). When a piece of a download subsequently fails a hash check, that means that the IP protocol was WRONG, and that a failed transmission actually DID come through (usually because of TWO errors that "cancel eachother out" so to speak).
Now if the downloader has no way to correct this mistake (download the block again), you have to start the entire download process from scratch (or at least download the failed file). This is also the reason why in the "old days" people put files into smaller blocks (1.44MB), not so much because they would fit on a disc (because they usually wouldn't anyway), but because if you had an error, you only needed to download a SMALL part of your entire download, instead of all of it.
I have no idea about the AA downloader, what you're downloading etc. etc. So I cant tell you where to "restart". I can only say that you need to at least redownload SOME of the stuff you already got (maybe all of it)

It means that the hash coming out of Afganistan these days is shit......
As its a torrent it re-downloads broken blocks again by itself. Unless every source is fux0rd it'll be fine, if not u'll keep getting the same message over and over
[sarcasm]B-B-B-BUT theres only 24 hours in a day, theres no possible way you could play america's army AND BF2 in those 24 hours!![/sarcasm]

Ok, thanks guys. I was using utorrent which, as i found out on further searching, automatically dumps and re-downloads any corrupt files.
