yes, you read it right, i have ordered my alienware laptop.

i payed alot for it (£800) and it might not be amazing, but i've always wanted an alienware laptop and today my dream has come true. here are the specs:

http://www.alienware.co.uk/configurator … KU-DEFAULT

all the default settings on that there, plus a bag and v500(?) mouse.

like i said, i may have got a bit ripped off, but i've always wanted an alienware.

anyway, i just thought i'd share it with you all.

I'm going to be getting an Aurora 7500 in a month or two... I know I could probably get more for the amount of money I'm spending but I've heard good things about Alienware and I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with it.

Is that laptop going to be able to play BF2?  Looks cool

Great, you got ripped off. I hope you're not using it for gaming?

Spearhead, buy the parts from Newegg and put it together yourself.. You'll get more & better hardware for less money.

NEVER do that with laptops, its one sure way to fuck up and waste shit loads of money. Desktops are ok to make yourself.

lol gotta love dell, i got as far as the first upgrade... the screen - +£179... that on a standard dell laptop is £23.50 (if ur asking why im comparaing the two its coz theyre the same company now)

On the upside, you didnt get ripped off at all, that price for what you got is good, I just find it sad how they obviously try to con people on the upgrades. ppl who go to alienware instead of the dell site generally want the best so they choose all the upgrades, thus they make a killing.

I also looked at the Dell laptops and they dont even compare! The Dell laptops are incredibly lame, also they may be owned in the same conglomerate but they arent run as one company.

Thought that Spearhead was getting an alienware desktop. You can buy and assemble all the laptop components yourself? Never seen that before

The Aurora 7500 is a desktop.....

Spear - you should at least conside building yourself.  I was in the SAME boat, and because of the guys on this forum, decided to build my own (with parts mainly from New Egg).  It was easier than I thought - I got a book from Amazon (there are a ton on building) and posted some problems here - in TECH area, and was in business in about ONE WEEK!  Now - if I want to add, change, tweak or fix anything - I crack it open and do it - no problem.  Some of the people here can really help you out if you get in a jam....but if you research it (NewEgg is good for this too) you should not have any problems....and the best part, it will cost you about half as much.  If you decide to go Alienware though, they are good.  Check out Falcon and Northwest as well....nice machines.

upgrade that modle hes got to the level of a comparable XPS

XPS M1710 £1299 inc VAT and shipping

alienware (with upgrades to bring it to match XPS M1710) £1346.55 inc VAT Exc shipping

specifications are identical, difference is brand and case...
