i like my 19" LCD with 8ms response time. choose whats right for you by the resolutions you commonly use. if you use 1280x1024 or lower as your resolution get an LCD there isnt any reason for you to have that CRT monster on your desk displaying resolutions that LCDs have no trouble displaying. if you use resolutions like 1600x1200 and higher use a CRT because its MUCH cheaper than an LCD that displays that resolution.

wait, you're saying that one blanket decision doesn't cover every permutation of user environments?  So, like uhm, people should tailor purchasing decisions to their individual needs and means?  Huh ...  ;-)

CRT monitors give much better picture. The colours are much more realistic and have more depth. Resolutions on CRTs are more variable, can handle different scales of resolutions more easily. I have a 19" Iiyama CRT which is great, has lovely colours, great resolution (1600x1200, ample for a screen that size) and a 20" widescreen Belinea LCD which fits on my desk a lot more nicely and the widescreen aspect ratio is great for using windows.

My CRT looks much nicer for playing BF2 on. But it does make your eyes hurt. No LCDs have yet even approached the colour quality of CRTs, but they are getting a bit closer.

I have a 19" Philips LCD. looks awesome IMO, but the max resolution is 1280x1024. That's the only thing to consider.

I picked up off the side of the road  a 21" CRT monitor about 9 months ago. Its still running strong using res of 1280 x 1024. I've never heard of the brand before though. It's a INTERGRAPH

CRT WILL perform better than MOST LCDs.

I used to use a CRT, I switched to LCD because of heat, eye strain, and to save space. I think that while there is a very slight amount of ghost, the picutre looks cripser on LCD.

The crt i am mentioning is a Viewsonic p95fb.

I use 2 CRT and one LCD. Honestly the old Dell LCD kinda sucks.

LCD wins for me.

Got an Acer AL2051W 20" Gamers Monitor. 8ms response, 1680x1050 and crystalbrite screen.

It's got the best colour reproduction of any monitor I have seen.

Some LCDs have pretty naff colour reproduction but its the same as everything - you get what you pay for.

Good CRT beats a crap LCD, good LCD beats a good CRT ;-)

CRT higher res, better picture, no ghosting, whipping, etc.

Downside, big, bulky, and heavy.

I am running an LCD because of space and it is easier on the eyes.  I do miss the crystal clear picture of my CRT trinitron flat screen.

$70,000.  That's how much Panasonic's 103 inch plasma TV is gonna cost.  Installation not included.
