Which media player is best? (Help)

I've had problems lately with video's (i.e. I either get sound or video; neither at the same time). Usually an update of DivX codec helps but not this time (6.3.1).

Anyway TO THE POINT: I know there are other (free) media players out there. I tried BS player but I didn't like

the pop up ads that came with it. If anyone knows a good (cost free/ spyware free) media player, I would be

very grateful.

EDIT: For any real technical people out there, I keep getting an error msg: 'AAC code 255' I know it's

something with the audio but I'm clueless as to what.

Thanks for your input. I hopes it's the player and not bad audio (5 gig of downloaded video). I'll give everyone some karma eventually. Thanks again.

Unfortunately i have to disagree with iTunes being a good media player. The new iTunes 7 reminds me of BF2. The previous iTunes 6 was really good and with really less bugs, but the new version 7 is as stable as wobble pudding.

I use Winamp for music BS player (the last version that had no adware in it) for most videos and VLC player for everything those 2 can't handle.

You can get BS player 1.37 from here http://www.filehippo.com/download_bsplayer/
It doesn't contain adware like the later releases.

has anyone seen the new itunes (7.0)? its sooo cool. they have a way to look at your music like its in a jukebox and it will automatically get all album artwork if you want it.

they just made a good thing better.

It looks nice and it got some nice features, but iTunes 7 crashes very often, it doesn't save all settings etc.

Apple recently only got attention with good looking products with a really bad quality.

What everyone else said.

VLC an older BSplayer *or torrented PRO* or media player classic.. those have built in codecs but like everone else said just get a codec pack. If you run into a file that won't play try media player classic and if it won't work check and see if they got an update for your codec pack. Personally I got K-lite right now but there are some other good ones if you watch alot of anime for example.

Besides iTunes sucking in the first place, v7 sucks even more. It's a piece of shit, dude (or at least that's what I hear -- I'd never be caught dead using it).
