Just wanting to know how many of you actually play assault. It's one of my favorite classes with the AK101/M16, and the GL. I'm aware that this has been discussed numerous times but I searched and didn't find a poll.

It seems like an under-appreciated class. I like the fact that you have to scavenge other's kits for medic packs and ammo. (I almost always run out of grenade launcher ammo... )

It's one of the only kits (Save Medic) where I can repeatedly go 3:1 or 4:1 in IO. (My stats beg to differ... but it's true, really.)

So... do you?

You have a smoke nade, you have the super-accurate M16 or CQB-ownage AK-101/47... And the GL. It's super easy to GL anyone who is proned. It's like a free kill.

And you don't have to prone to shoot.

The assault kit is pretty much usuless now since they nurfed the GL. I no longer use it at all. But prior to the patch I had about 100hrs all up with assault kit.

Pff. Bunnyhopper. REAL Assault guys can use the GL if they reduce the splash damage to 1.

I like the assult kit. The weapons are all fairly accurate, and except for the M16 do good damage. Unfortunately I end up playing AT more when I ground pound because everyone else is playing support or medic and no one helps me kill the armor.

But you don't get the GL. Which was nerfed yes, but with some skill, is still very effective. You can usually find plenty of med kits laying around, for free health.

I just adapted to it... yes it's annoying when the GL bounces, but if you can judge distance well, it's still an easy way to drop enemies, even with the reduced damage/blast area.

Not typically .. but when i do on occasion i wonder why i dont play it all of the time. I played for about 10-15 min on an IO server last night Assault+G3 .. it was awesome ... not good not bad ... finished with a kdr of 2

I use to play assault alot untill they nerfed the Noob Tube..

I still play it sometimes.. If i'm not playing Medic or taking out a tank for my team, i'll usually play Assualt..

But medic works just as good as assualt in my opinion..

How about no, its still shit because of how slow it fires now. I have 76% accuracy with the GL and over 7000+ kills all up, hence the reason I never cared about the reduced splash radius. I also don't care about the bouncing, 80% of my kills with it were mid-long range. Sure I could ajust to using it with how slow it is, but I wont be able to top score most rounds like I used to with it. Much rather go medic.

I use Spec Ops as opposed to Assault. The reason being that i find the weapons for Spec Ops (G36 Class) a lot more accurate then those of Assault. I know that Assault has more powerfull weapons but I prefer accuracy over power. Plus C4 is always useful aswell :p

I love playing Assault. The Assault guys are great for, well.. assaulting - meaning rushing and charging in the face of fire. No other class is as good at this.

Support comes close, but they have to go prone in order to hit effectively. The Assault guy can take shots and lay effective fire down while both standing and crouching. They can advance further and push stronger than any other class- they just need a little help from other classes when/if there are tons of enemies. Medic is great, but they can't take multiple shots without needing the med kit, and thus their gun is out of their hands at the time. There needs to be a good mix, but every squad should have an assault or two leading the charges.

The problem is that there are too many wussies playing BF2 who are afraid to charge out there and lead an assault. You see a lot of camping in the beginning of maps on 64 player servers. You keep seeing stagnant front lines when not enough people are nutting-up and braving the fire and charging. All it takes is a few people to get brave and you can get pretty far running like LT Spears under fire.
