I use BS Player Pro (for most stuff), VLC (for stuff that's awkward, ie doesn't play right in BS Player), Media Player Classic (I used to use a lot, kinda been eclipsed now though) and Quicktime (for MOV files).

BS Player is great. So is VLC, VLC is probably better, but it's not as nice to use - great that you don't need codecs for it though.

itunes and quicktime are THE way to go

iTunes is not a media player. It plays only audio. Since the person was speaking about Divx, we know they are using video.

VLC basically plays anything you throw at it. It probally the best media player out there.
