So we all have our opinions regarding the whole nvidia ATI debate, and we all have equally as many opinions when it come to which model we want. (Search shows this quite well) But does anyone give any thought to which actual manufacturer they choose, or is it jut avaliablity and price. Do you have any nightmare stories about certain manufacturers? Let us Know!
sapphire is a good ATI maker, but their stock fans blow ass, this x1600pro I have runs at 70C full load, I cook marshmallow every now and then off of it

clock for clock all manufactureres are the same. they all use the reference designs. but the differences arise in service, warranty, included software, a possible factory oc and of course price. when i buy gfx cards i watch out for all those factors and will get the card with the best price/performance/manufacturer extras ratio. with nvidia based cards i usually go with evga (factory ocs and a good warranty) for ati based cards i usually go with asus cards cause they seem to be the cheapest and the differnces between the manucfactureres seem very minimal. i havent really had any problems with any manufacturers and all customer support i've had contact with was promp and swift. only gripe i have is that the asus support download speeds are pretty bad, but since i anyhow usually use the refernce drivers, this does notz really matter to me. also i once had a doa evga card, but that wasnt their fault since apparentely it got completely soacked in the post. got a new one promptly so big thumbs up for them.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
I've always found XFX quite reliable, had problems with Asus cards (think it was memory corruption, the screen got all scrambled up - still it meant I got my money back for a FX5800 Ultra 8 months after buying it, so worked out ok) - although I hear that's unusual. 3DFX were the best manufacturer. 3DFX FTW - actually it might be a bit late.
I love ATI they have always been good to me. Ive had some Nvidia card but they burned out quickly. None of my last5 ATI has burned out. But heres the catch Ive bought all ATI distributed cards, a little while ago I bought a Connect 3D ATI card and it didn't work when I plugged it in, went back returned it got another one from connect 3d and when with the better model, still didn't work. Went back got a genuine ATI one bang works like a charm.
lifetime warrenty that is pretty awesome, i cant stand it when hardware stuffs up right on the day after the warrenty ends

I bought a Connect 3d ATI card and it was shit. It ran so hot that my comp would just shut off after being on for 5 min. I RMA'ed it and the new one did the same thing. It just had a shitty heatsink. Now I have a Gigabyte nvidia card and I haven't had any problems with it.
Yep wasnt just me then.messfeeder wrote:
