Well the tech support guy at my moms company has convinced her that Dell is the shit. Especialy when you get 15% it automaticly makes is VERY cheap....

Anyways Im building a system off this: http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/ … &s=dhs
(XPS 700)

Anyways I just wanna make sure I can get as much as possible out of my moms stupidity.
Ok, the goal for this is to play the most advanced FPS game that will come out before DX10 on all highs totaly maxed out on a 20in monitor(right now Im pretty sure thats GRAW).

Also I want to keep it simple so I can upgrade it pretty easy.

Im thinking 7900GTX though 7950GTX2 is open though not sure if I should or not.

2GB of RAM is deff and Im thinking mabey adding another 2 gigs in.

E6600 thought I might jump up to another one depending on the opinions. How long would a E6600 last me compared to a E6800 and would it make sense to get a E6800?

Xfi Xtreme Edition is in because thats the only choice.

Single 320GB 7200RPM hard drive

Phyix card mabey, still debating that.

Ok, any info helps I guess. Mabey for once my parents can say yes(I get the idea they like saying yes to stupid choices).

I don't know about now but Dell used to use proprietary parts that you can not upgrade some of them.  The last Dell I had I couldn't put a after market fan on it or just put a bigger power supply in it.  They also tend to use crap parts, you could order 3 identical computers and all three would have different HD's and RAM.  Even with the discount you can still build just as good of a computer for the same or less with name brand equipment.

Well considering I am paying more so she can be a idiot no. I was gonna pay full price for a 1,800 custom build computer but instead my mom likes this idea more so she tells me I have to pay 2,500 dollars and she is taking it out of my bank account isnt tha nice. Now unless you have a opinion shut the fuck up asshole.

Yeah dude, if u built one, u could build same or BETTER quality for half the price, or less than half. and be able to upgrade.

they use dif motherboards sometimes, so it is hard to upgrade is what they're trying to say.

Foley, how old r u? (not trying to be a smarta$$)  Just wondering if your mom's taking it out of your account, don't you have any say in the matter?  Anyway the problem with Dell is just like everybody is saying.  You can order 4 computers that are the same and they will all have different parts in them.  If it definately has to be a Dell then I would get the more expensive processor as Dell usually doesn't have the best overclocking features in their bios.  Also there probably aren't many games out there right now that will tax a 7900, so that should be fine until DX10.  As far as the memory goes Windows won't recognize anything more than 3.5 gigs, so 4 gigs wouldn't really do anything.  2 Gigs should be fine, but I would upgrade to "gaming/low latency" memory if it's an option.  The other option would be to get the cheapest/least amount of memory possible and then buy your own 2 gigs and put it in.  If you go that route you'll have to make sure that it takes the proper memory....I know they put a lot of pc100/pc133 in a lot of systems, and that memory is extremely expensive.  As far as the PhysX card goes, I would wait a little while to see what kinds of games are going to take advantage of it and whether it would be worth buying or not.  Hope this helps, and good luck!

If that is so, you will be fine in the end.  Less a few dollars.  When you are talking computer speeds these days it is fractions of seconds and not minutes like the old days.  You won't notice an difference other than you won't have  a name brand part in your PC.  Odds are that you will have the same part, just it won't have the tag saying it is.

As some advice.  Go with a second HD and put the OS and downloads on #1 and everything else on the other bigger one.  I did that and when I get a virus I just reinstall windows and all my other programs are on the other  and I lose nothing but time.

Did you read what he said?

He can't build his own PC, his parents have decided that Dell pwns, and they won't let him.

(Sorry I can't give any opinion on this, I mainly know about AMD and ATI...)

EDIT: Directed post
