One of the things that gets me, is people who do not join or create squads. This makes it much tougher for a commander. It's a pretty simple thing to do. I was commander on one map last week and had 4 of the 14/15 people on our side actually playing in a squad. They were doing a great job. All the rest were running around the map chasing ghosts. I mentioned it to the team 3 or 4 times, but do you think they would listen. Nope. We ended up losing, wasted my time as commander because I couldn't get anything done. And finally left after the round to find a server that had some form of teamwork. But that is still a hard thing the find. Too bad the commander soesn't have the power to place the unassigned people into squads. But I guess if they don't want to work as a team, or don't know how to work as a team, then the point is mute anyways. And I'll go trundle off and try to find another teamworking server.
True enough, but even placing them into squads won't guarantee they will ever be playing that way.
A couple of nights ago I was in a squad and was killed, respawned immediately after my SL. He jumps in a jeep and I ask for a ride...he drives off with the only remaining vehicle in the PLA base camp.... That's a long walk to the action....

i hate it when im commander and there are 9 squads with onley 1 or 2 people in that squad
Seriously. When I am squad leader, even with a rag-tag bunch of guys I make sure that when they spawn on me they get rides or that we work as a team.Dr0pped wrote:

Whenever I am commander I constantly have to say "Guys, join squads!"
No-one pays attention, and normally when there is only one squad we loose.
Here's a tip to make sure your team goes into squads.
Create a squad, invite five members to join. Once they accept, (and mostly they'll be flattered that you asked them to join and do so.) Once they are in a squad, leave.
Rinse and repeat.
This dosn't always work, but most of the time you'll get squads of a minimum of three. then you can choose the best one and become squad leader, or save the one you really wanted to be in to last... whatever works.

What irks the hell out of me when I'm commander is like everyone has said there might be 1-3 squads, but I get requests for supplies/ammo/arty whatever from someone that's not in a squad and because I can't spend the entire game looking for this single person on a 32 or 64 player map I gnore them and then I see them try and init a kick vote (which never happens) I say wise up join a squad or form your own then I can help you out.
seems like since the new 1.12 patch, less and less players are willing to work as a squad.
i miss the early days when 4 or 5 players would be in a squad and there would be multiple kits in the squad.
because of that i have gone into tanks a lot.
now i kinda miss the teamwork of squad play.
and a lot of times when i get into a squad everyone seems to be doing their own thing.
would really like to play with some like minded squad orientated people.
i play either on eath, easg or eaplay.

I am thinking more and more of joining a clan just to get some teamwork with people. I often join squads that are clearly clan working together and if they are unlocked. I then try my hardest to work together with them. Sometimes they us VOIP but usually they are on their own Teamspeak. Just getting tired of 2 or 3 man squads that may or maynot work together.

well at least people are in squads...but why not fill them up? dont know i think its about the time they want to be a Squad leader to get a badge or sumthing....but i really hate Brainless fuckhead who dont join squad and instead of capturing flags they just tubing around like a dumb motherf.....
Good Commander + Big squads = Is the key to victory

This threads been going around and around for some time now. I take your point about squads, they're great when they work together, not all do. But it's just a game guys, a lot of people just want to play for the hell of it, or maybe they just want to get their badges and stuff.
If I make a squad I keep myself away from the heat of the battle but close enough for the spawners to get right back into it.... it's no good being a constant dead SL. If I'm in a squad, I'll follow the guy in front, if he dies, I'll take his place.... and so on. Great when it works, but also great when it doesn't, I just love playing this game.
@*ToRRo*cT| . What about those that don't 'squad up' and still take flags, or assist team mates, or get you out of a hole, or snipe the guy that's just about to knife you, or holds a CP so everyone else can spawn, or takes a bullet for you or your squad buddy, or captures the enemy heli/jet and takes it back to base so that it can be used against the enemy..... they're not all "Brainless fuckhead", . Don't tar everyone with the same brush.... despite being 'lone wolves', some are incredibly canny and know how to play the game their way
Squads are great and I really admire ones that work well together, but I'd rather be on my own than work in one that's totally dysfunctional.
I've really enjoyed my 240:43:40 on my own

I almost always join or create a squad, but I also hate commanders that don't pay attention to where their squads are located. I can't tell you how many times I will be at one of the map, have the commander order me to take a CP at the complete other end, only to get 90% of the way there and be ordered back to the other end of the map.
I like squads, because if you confront one person everyone is probably going to survive, yet if you are on your own it would be about 50/50.
Except that one time I was ambushed as Support and managed to take out five people before the sixth took me out. That was sweet.

HOLY ASSHAT BATMAN! So True! I have no problem being in a squad and following orders, in fact its a ton of fun when your squad is tearing around owning shit. But why do I always have to attack the point on the map farthest from me? So I die twice just trying to cross the entire frickin universe and then the commander changes his mind. "NO SIR!"Agent_Dung_Bomb wrote:

A few personal gripes about squads:
1. When no one joins squads. You got like 1 squad and 25 lone wolfs. That shit pisses me off!
2. When you got 7 squads, each with one person in them. Does everybody have to be a SL?
3. When you get in a decent sized squad only to realize that they are spread all over the map and aren't working together at all. Why join a squad if you're not gonna act like one?
Conversely, I love when I join a squad that actually:
1. Works together to do whatever needs to be done! I know, its a novel idea!
2. Communicates! C'mon people! Get a fuckin' headset! They're not that expensive and make the game so much more enjoyable!

I agree with the squads, being lonewolf for me is when I just want to stand around in Karkand on the first flag and shoot away. Too many times when I am in a squad I have to 'guess' where everything is at because the UAV is somewhere else. All my times playing lonewolf is either learning/testing new weapon/bored/eating/talking on phone/telling wife to shutup.
In my opinion, Squads are HUGE leverage in winning a battle. But the sad thing is that no one wants to play on a squad, they want to run around and kill and if they see a flag maybe decide to cap it. If only people could get together and have true squads and when they get an attack order then the squad waits till the squad's sniper goes and scouts the area, gives a report of whats going on initially and then they move in. Two assault, two medics, a support and an anti-tank or two assault, two anti-tanks, a support and a medic
instead the game is a clusterf*** with very little team strategy most the time.
thank god for the good commanders who encourage this by issuing orders regularly, i have had very few commanders issue orders to me and/or my squad without me asking a couple of times.
