Came across this little bit of info:

Silent kills with knives- There is a myth going on that slitting somebody's throat with a knife is a silent kill. In reality when somebody's throat is cut, he is likely to gurgle and thrash around for some period of time until the oxygen in his brain runs out and usually create a lot of noise in the process. No, if you want a silent kill then you got to put your blade at the indent at the base of his or her skull (bone is thin there) and slam the knife upward at a 45 degree angle. This scrambles the medulla oblongata, and cuts off the motor senses immediately. This may sound morbid, but in actuality it is a much more merciful and painless method compared to being stabbed/slashed.

So next time you take out a sniper, do it in silence

edit: Ps.: It was written as a tactical guide for BF2 lol

if you place the knife where the spine meets the skull and cut there... well let's just say its ultra silent, as the person's still alive (for a few minutes), but has no control over their body.
