I don't know if it's just me, but fcuk the damn parachute! Almost every time I play I have trouble with it! Why do you have to push the button 5 or 6 times before it ejects? And it's not rare that it won't eject! When I jump of a building after being e.g. a sniper, I don't want to get splattered just becasue the parachute wont eject! I understand that it need a certian hight, but I know that the problem still occur when the building is pretty damn high!

You have to jump away from the building..

If your falling right along the wall, i dont think it will open..

Works fine for me..

I know what you mean, i always have to slam the key i use to open my parachute loads, i just cane the key till the damn thing opens. I have it mapped very conveniently on my mouse!

I dont think they actually meant the use of the parachute to jump relatively small distances i.e. off a building. It does indeed get on my nerves though. Just press that 9 button like you're about to have an orgasm, and if your chute doesnt open, think of that as the splat.

I've had that problem now and again, but not every time. It usually happens after several drinks and I have to think about which key is the parachute, and then actually find it on the keyboard.

that's one thing that's way better in 2142. the chute opens much more reliably, and you trigger it with the spacebar.

Blah, I dont have any problems with it nowadays. I open it at the last second possible, and it usually works.

Well, lets face it, a parachute wouldn't do dick for someone jumping off a three storey building, so it's still better than what it could be.

Me, I often miss the '9', since I've got to move my hand all the way over. So by the time I finally get my 'chute out, I'm sometimes holding my gas grenade launcher and seeing everything in glowing green...

If you are jumping into an area smaller than that of the length of the parachute (an alley) then it will not open. If it doesn't open on, say, wake island then you just suck

I press it once and only once and it opens.

You just have to know WHEN to press it. Don't bother pressing it as soon as you jump because it won't work. You have to fall 20-30 feet first (my guestimate) then press 9 and it'll deploy (not eject) with no problems at all.

The only time I really have to press nine more than once is when I jump off a small ledge or something and want to try not to lose those 2-3 bars of health from the fall.
