No it doesn't make sence because SNIPERS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO PROTECT THEMELVES IN CQC. Snipers were designed to excell in long shots (hence the SNIPER RIFLE) and are meant to do poorly in close range. RL or not, no one carries two main weapons. If you want to use a rifle, go pick an assault or medic kit instead. If you want CQ protection, team up with a assault or medic player. The extra man will be your other free set of eyes so you can do your concentrating on making that single shot count.
If u want to be realistic, snipers are protected by only one thing....
there abillity to blend in....
if you have ever fired a pistol for real , you know its frikkin hard, in RL pistol would be no match for an assault rifle....
if you say you've seen scout snipers armed with m16 AND sniperrifle....
those arent real snipers, they are sharpshooters, snipers wear ghillie suits and stake-out for 3 days in the jungle, waiting for ONE kill....
just improve the ghillie suit and make a training mode for snipers, too many nOOb snipers don't use their main weapon....

realy people, snipers can OWN people in CQB with their rifle.....
by example , KARKAND....
i bet all of you guys lose some health bars BEFORE seeing action......
2 healthbars are enough to make sniperrifle (for me the l96) a one-shot-one-kill-weapon.....
so, don't fall back on your pistol too soon, your rifle gives you (in my eyes...) a better chance on survival....
pistols are on the other hand great to pick of guys from a squad ( u cant hear the pistol from more then a few yards away.....) take out the last guy, reload, take second , reload and so on....
u can ruin whole squads with sniperrifle.....
just PRACTICE PRACTICE, dont moan about Snipers need MGs......
they are snipers, not GI joe-puppets......

I think they should carry Collapsible Tanks, complete with crew!
I know that Dutch Commando snipers work in teams of two, the sniper himself with an L96A1 or AWM or whatsitcalled, and the spotter with a C8 (M4). They are not ever supposed to get into close combat situations.
I once asked one of them why the spotter had a C8, if it was for close range defence, and he said:
"No, it's not. If we ever find ourselves fighting at close range it means that something already went horribly wrong and we probably won't survive anyway."

The one thing snipers should have is a pair of binoculars with more zoom than the sniper scope and the ability to spot enemies with a single click.
If you want CQB with a sniper, then get an xbox and go play Halo. Then you could CQB with the sniper all you want and yell "OMG I SO NO SCOPE PWNED YOU YOU NOOB! AND YOU HAD THE SWORD! YOU'RE SUCH A NOOB GO DIE NOW YOU FAIL AT LIFE!" over xbox live.

No, the spotters carry the M16's, a sniper should not sling a rifle around him while in a firefight. He could bump is scope and thus make his rounds extremely inaccurate.david363 wrote:
