I run official bf2 shortcut from start menu...
Open and observe task manager...

bf2.exe gets to 37,788 kB of mem usage, sits on 97-99% cpu usage and never does anything. Never opens, never crashes, never does anything, just sits there and smells.

Checked internet, network and firewall connectivity all A-OK...

HELP!!!!?

Do you have the right configuration no your PC ??? Grafic card, sound card , CPU etc... ?

Do you have too many memory-hugging processes running, things like Folding @ Home or SETI?

Try to get down below 40 processes running and nothing that takes active CPU time.

Try this (I expect you have WinXP)

Right click the shortcut and choose properties. Now go to the tab called Compatibility and try one of the compatibility modes in that window. I had this problem when Battlefield 2 was released as a multiplayer demo and I simply choose Win98/Me in compatibility and it suddenly worked.
