Hi, I've always had a problem with screenshots.
It has never worked for me. I always have to hit PrtScn, then jump out of the game, pull up another app, hit paste and save it.
I know the problem is my Microsoft keyboard (yeah, yeah, I should just buy a different/better one). It has a stupid F-lock key that I always have to hit when I play BF2. If you have one, you know what I mean. Oddly, the default is that the F-keys are disabled, and you have to hit F-lock to turn them on. Sometimes I forget, which means I die when I drive up to a flag at start of game in my humvee, try to switch to gunner position, and nothing happens when I hit F2. F2! F2!!! You are critically wounded....
They're called F keys for a reason, around here. Meanwhile, enabling the F keys somehow screws up the PrtScn key. To get it to work, I have to disable the F keys, then hit PrtScn, then hit F-lock again to turn on the F keys. And, of course, jump out of the game to paste the pic. It doesn't just show up in the Screenshot directory, like everyone else.
So after more than a year of this...I finally found a solution. I am posting this in case there are others living in shame and silence, like I did, thinking "it must be my fault, and I'll just be ridiculed if I ask for help." LOL!
I finally solved it by remapping the Screenshot key. Instead of it being PrtScn, I made it the Home key. I picked Home because it's near the old PrtScn key for me, and because it's redundant in the game. Pressing Home is the same as pressing CapsLock in the game.
Magic! (Yeah, just like everyone else!) It takes the screenshot, AND posts it quietly in the correct directory! No more have to F-lock, F-lock, leave the game, paste, save, get back in the game, etc.
I'm so freaking thrilled at getting this monkey off my back that I had to make a new topic, and I hope it helps others.
Edit: Removed first method of changing Home key, which involved altering a .con file. Who knew it was right there in Options all the time?! Umm. Oh well, at least it's fixed, and I am still thrilled.
