- What constitutes a good Sniper??
Arujuna is much better than Nyte, end of discussion. Actually, not quite yet, i have played against and alongside Arujuna and i haven't seen many snipers better than him, lots of kills and not many deaths, that's what counts.
I can't see how Nyte even compares, Arujuna would win 1vs 1 and i would imagine they achieve a similar amount of kills per round as each other, but with Arujuna, less deaths, that's a good sniper.

MODESTY
I dont want to know how far you can shoot, I dont want your high score rounds, I definitly do not want to see your below average editing w/ slipknot or some other metal band sniper vid
MODESTY is what makes people great

My Acc with the sniper rifle is only 39, but i can easily get 25+ kills per round. I will try any shot no matter how far or impossible it may seem.
Mine:
Sniper do's
- Keep your distance, the rifle should be your main weapon, not your pistol and clays.
- Beware horizons, you should hide in grassy area's or behind small holes to shoot through. Stay invisible.
- Dont camp in one spot, even a good hiding place will be discoverred in due time, keep switching positions to constantly surprise enemies.
- If you have to use your pistol (close combat), move around as much as possible, because it doesnt affect the pistols accuracy. Dont use your sights. edit: it does affect accuracy, but you moving around will help avoid getting hit.
Sniper dont's
- Running around in city maps, armed with a pistol and throwing clays in alleyways. This is extremely annoying for other people and you are going to die very soon. Horror scenario for your K/D ratio.
- Deploying all your clays at a flag to defend it. Its annoying and it leaves your back defenseless while your capping/sniping
But thats just me :p

camouflage... accuracy....currage
Sniper accuracy doesnt mean very much, the whole accuracy stat is unnaccurate (ironicly enough )dont_be_ss wrote:

The SVD is a great sniper for getting huge K/D ratio's, but your accuracy is going to suffer.
Then theres also the buggy hitboxes and overall lag, which makes me surprised i still have 50%
The rest was ok until you mentioned this bit about the pistol, as you move you will notice the crosshairs on the gun will widen slightly.iPoon.be wrote:

Mind you i am the worst with the pistol, when i pull it out, i die instantly.

Well, the spread doesnt matter in close combat. No need to get more excercise than absolutely necessary over 30ft. distancessonrats wrote:

Sorry, but i have to disagree here, the semi's are much better for city maps and your accuracy will only increase by using them, if you have 10 bullets per mag it is easy to hit more often as you get more shots, especially if you body-shot your targets. It is easy to get 7 out of 10 bullets hit if you body-shot.iPoon.be wrote:

I avoid body shots though, and the SVD doesnt always hit exactly where you aim
wrong thats how you get spotted and killed multiple timesReciprocity wrote:
dont worry about accuracy. a good sniper is always taking shots no matter how improbable. that's the only way you get better. the weapon is as accurate as you allow it to be. learn your limits and then shoot past them. and a good sniper better have a hell of a lot of kill assists.
And same for me, i have 47 accuracy (i know that's pretty shit) and i aim for the head always.iPoon.be wrote:

My acc is fairly good. I go for headshots on medium range. For long range and running targets I'll use the semis (like SVD) and go for bodyshots. Hits are there more important then instant kill to me, and if I can injure a target it might me an easier kill for a teammate I'll try to protect, or at least give the divesrion he/she needs to avoid being killed. Allthough less 'accurate' the faster reload time gives you a fair change to kill the enemy, even if it takes 3 or 4 hitsssonrats wrote:

Put a sniper in a plane and he will get gold.
You have to learn the rules of the game and then you have to play better than anyone else.
I met this amazing sniper, his name was STFU_Account
Even though I tooled him in the end, I would have to say he is up there.

What does that have to do with the thread?Nyte wrote:

While you may be ranked high or something and have the respect of the community it's funny how you dont have your Expert Sniper in SF. Hell even I have that. I dont really mean to start a flame war just pointing out the stats.Nyte wrote:

Let's take this whole matter for real life what makes a good sniper...
... a bullet: A few bucks.
... a dead enemy: You couldn't afford paying him out.
... your life: Priceless.
This leads me to one conclusion: Shoot as often as you want - your survival is the key. It's the number of deaths compared to the time you've been a sniper, along with the K/D-Ratio that indicates how good you are.
I that I don't have an accuracy to be proud of like sniping pretty much. I'm not great at it but I've had rounds with 19:0, 18:0, 18:1 and so on... That's they way a sniper should handle teamwork.
Oh, by the way, before I forget it: In my eyes, a sniper is a good sniper as long as he takes out other snipers. From behind the friendly lines he should pick off what would bring danger to his teammates.

A good sniper = someone that doesn't pick the sniper kit. That's a good sniper.
I can get that anytime I want, I just don't feel like it right now.syntaxmax642 wrote:
