CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL!

Fushikizzle. I know I am. I played the single player pre-beta that came with PC Gamer and MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY GOOOOOOOOOODNESSSSSSSSSS.

I load the damn thing up and I was so amazed, that my eyelids fell off along with my jaw.
The visuals are stunning, it REALLY does look like it could be a FPS game if you were to watch the cinematics. Of course this is expected from Relic. You know, the guys that did homeworld and warhammer dawn of war. They love their details, and it really shows here.

So CoH is a WW2 RTS game, and it's just so super sextacular. Now i KNOW you people have heard about it, so who of you are planning to get it? I'm auctually surprised I haven't seen a topic about this.

Haven't played it, what's it like?

I have played the Faces of War demo, that was ok.

well if you've played warhammer DoW, you know they have control points. well in CoH, they have the same thing, but it's a BIT different. the maps still have control points, but they're in sectors now, like Risk or Axis & Allies. There's also 3 resources you need to maintain.

Manpower, Munitions, Fuel.

And on these three, you can build one'a those posts like in DoW so the enemy just can't capture it.
There are REGULAR control points as well. I'm not really sure what those give you since the demo didn't really let me explore that.

The maps are really detailed, along with the characters. there's auctual physics in the game..which is a really nice touch. if anyone is interested in a great WW2 RTS, you definately need to check out this game.

(price no longer valid) I found it on www.outpost.com for $35 for the CD & DVD version.

I already placed in my pre-order

I have to say that this RTS looks absolutely amazing. I also downloaded the demo and played through the tutorial and a skirmish. The amount of detail they have put into the game is incredible. There are so many different things you can do with the units and upgrade them and buildings and commander upgrades... the list goes on and on. From using cover and flanking to using special units and special munitions.

This game puts a new spin on RTS games and it's going to be hard to follow.
Good job Relic on this one. It's simply... WOW!

Speaking of the demo did you get it from somewhere that would take less than 16 hours? If yes, PM me.

I'm looking to pick that up when it comes out..  Saw it in PCGamer as well, and was absolutely amazed, and being by the Dawn of War ppl, of course it's going to be good.

But...I'm a lil more excited for Supreme Commander    The long awaited "sequel" to Total Annihilation.

Sorry. I just downloaded it from fileplanet which I have a subsciption to already due to the BF2142 beta.
So I took advantage of it since I've paid for it already. It took me about 55 min. from home and more like 10 min from work. Crazy fast when you have a deticated OC-12 coming into your work and a gigabit LAN.

Yeh, I'm def getting this. I've played through the demo loads of times already - it's amazing.

Runs fine on my AMD 3200, 2GB 3000 RAM, 6600GT in SLi rig. (would you call this average or high end?)

Apparently new drivers coming out for SLi which should help too.

Sound and graphics (but esp the sound) are AWESOME on this game. Love it already! Pre-order from Amazon in UK for just £25 and comes with Dawn of War too, for free.

i have to say....COH is so vanilla rts its not funny.  i was expecting some uber slick wonder game.  instead i got DoW with less options....how does that work?  its like everyone who played it had'nt realised when they were writing the previews.  anyways its not that bad i guess but its not exactly pushing the fold on the insperation front.

u should all try Faces of War instead .  its bugged but when they eventually get round to releasing the patch for it its gonna be way better in the long run than CoH.  and the destruction engine is better if u ask me .

That spec, distinctly average (for a BF2 player), I think.

Will look at Amazon UK shortly.  Thanks for the heads-up on that one.

Yeh, i thought so. At least I've got the 939 and an SLi board though, £250 next year shjould get me back to beastly performance...

@ Comben - I disagree. There's much less focus on resource management, so this game just strips the it down to combatative basics.

I love the way the units use cover, have loads of upgrades, gain exp points, can change their type (eg, engineers become MG crew) without regard to their initial ability.

It's gonna certainly kill a good many hours this winter for me and a few mates anyway - and comes at a good time as I was starting to tire of only playing BF2 a bit... variety is the spice of life an all that jazz.

the regular points are called critical locations and if you capture 1 you expand your unit cap and you can cut off the enemy supplies(or/and connect your own supplies together)

Okay, so now that the game is out. Who has it? Who's good, who's bad? How far have you gotten, going to play Online Multiplayer?
