Should I pay a little more and get a clear CPU case and buy some light (blue, red etc) and put them in my computer? I see pics of your guys' computers and they look wicked with the lights.

I just went with a water cooled setup and gave this case (/w lights) to my daughter.  I out grew it.

If you want.  Lights do nothing performance-wise.  I couldn't care less about what a computer looks like, just so long as it runs well.

Yeah, I agree ThomasMorgan.

But still, I'd like to show it of, to actually show that I have a good computer, compared to this one now.

no that was a joke ... i dont like the plastic side since it acts as an insulator, probally wont make or break a system.

I know it was a joke, I was just laughing at it.

You would be the stupidest person alive to put those in your computer.

A few things to remember when you go for "modding":

1) Lights use power, the AC converter makes noises, and the LEDs give off heat. All of this you DONT want. So make sure you know what you're getting yourself into
2) The store crap is just that... CRAP... If you want to mod, half the fun is making your own gadgets. But dont go doing hard mods if you're a beginner. Start with something simple, like putting a window in your current case, or adding a duct.
3) When you GO for a transparent case, or even just get one with a window. Remember TWO things: One, it's transparent, you can actually SEE inside the PC.. So CLEAN IT UP ! Second, it's transparent, you'll NEVER get that smudge of honey or salami or whatever off.
4) This stuff costs money. While I'm all for some flash, try to determine if you REALLY want to spend $x on getting a transparent case, Leds, weird fans, ducts, UV lights etc. etc. when this money could go towards getting... I dont know.. say a new CPU ? A new Mobo ? A new GPU (remember DX10 is around the corner) ?

So think about it, and then decide what to do. There's a damned good reason a lot of people DONT have flashy gadgets on their PCs.

cold cathode is where its at... uses little power, and bright as ever...just dont go for the yellow/red as they will look white/orange (respectively) i have 2x green 12" and 1x blue 12"...o, and 5 of my fans have uv leds on them, but my 520w psu runs everything fine....

edit: all lighting done for $40 in my case, fans included, and if you do lan partys or whatnot, the pimp factor is a big one...my clan goes all-out once a year with pimp shit up in Washington state...soo much fun.

I put 3 cold cathode tubes in mine (1 red, 2 blue).  If you like them go for it, the novelty will eventually wear off though.  I rarely turn on my lights anymore.  As for side windows though, I like them.  After spending all your hard earned cash on PC parts, it's kinda nice to see them now and then.  If you do go for the lights though, spend an extra few bucks and get a fan/light controler (which will let you turn them off/on from a drive bay instead of having to open your case side).

I have one of those Alienware cases with the green Led's shining out of the huge Alien head eyesockets/front fan vent.

Looks evil at night with the lights out and seeing two eyes stareing back at you.

Friggin hell Stealth, how many fans u got in that wee beasty??

And yeah I hear ya Twist - my case is a pretty simple set up. No windows or leds, only a 550W PSU and 5 fans -
2 in front, 2 in back and 1 on the side to keep it cool(ish) over summer

I have owned a transparent case.

DON'T DO IT.

It is a daily choir to keep it clean, and if you do go for it, get fan filters.  Dust really makes them look like shit!

I had this case for about 2 months before I dumped it.

This case even has cold cathode IDE wires (Have to look close).  Fun to look at, nice conversational piece, Pain in the ass to maintain.

Yes LED's do create heat... very little, and draw even less volt's.  You should have at least 50 watts over what you system requires anyhow.  Cold Cathode is the way to go.  Very bright, little heat, and I did not have one transformer that makes a bit of noise.  Perhaps it's the brand, thermaltake.  I am sure the cheaper ones probably did make some noise.
