What's your budget? What's the absolute most you could afford to pay because I reckon you could probably get a 9800 brand new for £45. Give us a budget, we'll find you the best card for the money.

well the card is extremely dated. i am guessing you need a agp card. are you planning on using it just to play bf2? if so are you loyal to ati? also your location helps because i know where to look that will ship to you. anyways just post on here and we will try to help or just send me a pm

From a 6600GT to a 9800XT you would be making more of a lateral move than anything else.

Seeing as the price in his post was £45 I'm assuming he's in the UK

My roomate has a AMD computer I built for him 3 years ago with a X800Pro,  BF2 ran like crap, and that was a $400+ video card when it was new.  He just recently got a new motherboard and a E6400 Core 2 Duo.  Same video card,  same DDR3200 Ram.   His BF2 is now capped at 60FPS which is the Vsync and never drops below that.  It is so smooth,  and it looks better than my 7800GTX and 4000+ AMD.   BF2 need raw CPU power to keep the framerates up.

Have a look at the top card on this page.

If you're on a limited budget but want to see an increase in performance over your 6600GT I think this may be of help. I may be wrong.

good call, i am not familar with a lot of uk part sites, i recommended this card -
http://www.misco.co.uk/productinformati … I%2BTV.htm

i have a version of it in my macbook pro and it works fine for bf2. the only reason i chose that one over the 7600 is that it seems to blay bf2 a little better.

excuse me, but this is pure bullshit man. With the X800Pro your buddie will not be able to run BF2 maxed out, with your 4000+ and 7800GTX you are able to. X800Pro only supports shader 2.0 technology, your 7800GTX is at least five steps ahead of this card. Come on!

And to the topicstarter:
yeah, this card will run BF2 but under average settings. 1024x768 with everything on medium, no lights, AA, AF etc. Dont go for it, if you already have a AGP 8X 6600GT 128MB, even if it´s cheap. Safe some more money and go for the suggeste 7600GS 256MB at least, better for the 7600GT 256MB. Will also fit for upcoming games.

yea i just ignored that stupid post all together. i think another point is the amt of ram he has. i think it may be more beneficial to purchase 2gb of ram at this point than up grading the card.
