Seriously. Since the dawn of BF2, map rotations have gotten increasingly less diverse. I can't even remember the last time I played Songua Stalemate. And now they introduce the Infantry Only switch, and y'all jump on it like a bunch of Japanese girls embracing the latest crazy fad. Same with Jalalabad. Can any map be good enough to play OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER....? Certainly not.

Well I'm not buying it. I have a name for Infantry Only, and it's COUNTER-STRIKE. The vehicles are what separates BF2 from other FPS games, and now you shit all over them. Why? So you can amass more points? I don't get it. Again, same with Jalalabad. Map diversity keeps the game interesting. With 2142 upon us, who cares about score? Have fun!

Don't even begin to think "antin0de, run your own server" is an acceptable response to this. Rather, explain the reasoning behind these silly configurations.

Don't get me wrong here, I appreciate the time and service you contribute to the BF2 community. If it weren't for y'all, we wouldn't have anywhere to play. Just don't be lame! Add more maps to your roto! Make it fun again!

I like IO because i like Inf battles. Jalalabad sucks for IO though, 3/4 of both teams is sniper and theres too much running involved.

However, some maps like Shongua, Warlord and Ghost Town have definitely improved with IO. It can make an excellent change of environment.

Whilst he has played Karkand a hell of a lot, he is one of those few who bought Special forces and actually plays it. He has my respect for that at least, I couldn't stick with SF at all

Not only that, but considering before this patch Karkand was pretty much the only regular map on servers, you can't blame it on the guy. Hell I ended up playing Karkand far more than I wanted to

They are two different games. They have little to none in common.

Because the entire selling point of BF2 was the diversity of roles you can fill - you could argue Inf Only is a good way to shoot yourself in the foot.

However considering so many people love to rack up points in a short amount of time, or - heaven forbid - would rather play the poor infantry combat in BF2, I suppose EA/Dice only catered to demand.

I don't mind IO or jalalabad 24/7 servers. But I do have to agree about the lack of diversity for maps in general. I'd like to see servers that maybe increase the frequency of certain maps in the rotation but don't take out the other maps.

I hate joining a server because it's playing a certain map (say Dragon Valley, fushee pass) and as soon as I get in, it loads up Karkand for the 1 millionth time.

WE own a IO server and its a blast, Im sorry you dont like it, its very competitive, like OMAHA on '42 rushing up the hill. IO Jalabad takes alot of teamwork on USMC. The snipers and Nades are no concern as you would be slammed by them anyway, everytime I play it, the intensity increases. I would rather have IO than being spawnraped by a Tank or Jet. But it dont matter as I play IO and regular.

50% of the servers: warlord only
25%: warlord+ghost town
20%: all day maps
5%: all maps

Obviously server admins do what people want.
I can't blame admins switching their servers from full rotations to XXX only, to keep them full.

But reasons like " i play karkand/warlord only because it's fun" are just bullshit, with few exceptions.
All people want are points and more points, period.

No. I'm beyond caring about my stats. I play for fun, you see. Sometimes I'll just drive around & see how many road kills I can get. Sometimes I'll crash a jet just cause I'm trying to fit it through a tight spot.

There are way too many people out there who care about their stats more than I do.

There are less rotating servers than you let on. When you factor in decent ping (~100), and my preferred server size (50p), the selection is sparse. And that is the cause for this discussion.
