Question 1:

According to this...
http://forum.pcvsconsole.com/viewthread.php?tid=15922

I can run BF2 at 'insane' settings with a 3.0-3.6GHz computer, 2GB's of ram, and a GeForce 6800.

So why am I spending my money on a GeForce 7900 when a 6800 can do the trick?
Technically, if I get a 7900, I;m probably only getting about 50% out of it.

Question 2:

Also, anytime I put BF2 into my cd-rom drive, it hums and grunts and then the start box comes up, i click start, and the bf2 logo thing come ups and stays there for minutes if i would let it. I take out the cd and trey again, and it still hums and grunts and it still wont work. I try again, and it works right away.

Sometimes, it works on the first try, or even the second, but its like my cd-rom drive isn't working properly. It hums and starts up, then goes quiet. Whats wrong?

Sounds more like your CD drive is dying. It has nothing at all to do with your graphics card in any way whatsoever, you're not even rendering 3D graphics when you're having the problem

Actually, the second part of that post was an entirely different question, and it wasn't related to the first part. I better make that more clear.

Clean the peanut butter off your CD ... either that or it is scratched.

I don't take care of my CD's too well. I just put it back ON the case instead of IN it. It doesn't have too many scratches compared to other game CD's I have seen.

Well, the 7900 will handle more games that haven't been released yet, where the 6800 won't be enough sooner or later.

Ahh, good point. I could get a 6800, but then have to upgrade sooner or later. I forgot about that. Thanks.

Answer to 1) a newer card can probably wait a bit, use what you have now.

Answer to 2) sounds like your cd drive is dying.
